Social Networking - Using To Help With Motovlogs/youtube

I study interactive media, and one of the things that I have learned is that social networking is an extremely valuable resource in many different fields of work for many different reasons. For some reason, I haven't been doing it!

Instagram - Probably my most used social networking app. Love it. Nothing more to say :D

Twitter - In my past experiences, Twitter works very well with YouTube, I have used it with alongside YouTube for a giveaway I hosted a while ago. Without twitter, I'm pretty sure the event would have failed as Twitter's use of hashtags made the event a whole lot easier to do.

Facebook - Facebook on the other hand, I have used it for many years as a normal user but I have never created a page for a YouTube channel, or anything else for that matter! I just don't think I'd be able to get the hang of it. I'm guessing it allows meet-ups and ride outs to be organised with ease?

Google+ - Well, I have no idea how to use it...

I'd just like to find out what social networking sites you guys use and how they have benefited you with your Motovlogs/YouTube/riding life. Reason being I'd like to start using social networking to help with my new channel and to ensure that I can stay connected with my viewers all the time.

I adopted Facebook early on and the Pages feature is great for a media based hobby like vlogging. You can upload photos, video, and text all in the same place.

I do like Instagram too, it cuts out all the crud that the other sites might have and allows you to enjoy photos.

I use Twitter, but I'm not sure of the added value, but good for interacting with some of your subs. Trouble with Twitter, the feeds move so fast, unless you look at your lists or go to all your followers you miss it all. Very time consuming. Facebook is popular with the kids, I do need to explore it as an option and I've never tried Instagram, although if it's all about photos, then I don't take that many and I'm not a daily biker.

I would use Facebook, but it just seems to be too much for me nowadays. Maybe once day I'll change my mind.

You just need to keep up with Twitter heheh, then again I am the type of person who is always on their phone... Meh

In the old days, you'd used to get on a landline, put an ad in the newspaper, stand on a street corner or host a club at the local library in order to get the word out - back then, that was called social networking ;) ...

...as for the 21st century, though, I only use Twitter. Facebook=suck up your personal information... Google+=sell your personal information... no clue about the rest :p .

I'm so stuck in the dark ages >_> .....

I don't think I ever want to go to the dark ages XD

You should have been around during the time when you had to keep change in your pocket in case you needed to use a payphone ;) .....

Goes into a business...
(me) "Hi, can I use your phone for a sec for a local call?"
(owner/clerk) "Sure, the payphone's around back..."

~_~

If you need help with Google Plus let me know. I can explain the mechanics etc.

It is fairly easy to build up 6K followers (as a person not a brand) provided you are not spamming blogs posts. Many companies don't get it.

Twitter is pretty much the only one I use. Though I need to get on Instagram. I don't think facebook is that good, seems to be getting more and more restrictive lately.

Okay. So twitter is what you want?? I only have a facebook never used twitter in my life nor have i used Google+ or instagram...

I started out with Facebook, then got a twitter and after that an instagram. I don't think it does much for me personally. But it keeps me busy.

I've often debated this with viewers and friends. I love the idea of using social media and advertising to promote your channel. I haven't used any yet just because I have my contest going to "pick my name" first then i'll setup all the accounts. but I have gotten a couple subs from this site so it's been fun. and interacting is never a bad thing.

Yeah well as a newb starting out I do have Facebook Instagram Twitter....but out of all of them to be honest so far it's this website I have gained the most subs from, and it's a good thing because it's genuine "to the subject" people that share the same interest that are watching and commenting on your content and I'm happy to sub them back because I enjoy motovlogging obviously as well so yeah for me this website hands down is definitely the best socially for me so far to making my channel grow for people to watch my content and content for me to watch

The interaction isn't as good here compared to YouTube itself or on reddit imo.

I think where this site shines in for tips and advice on motovlogging.

Instagram is great for its very narrow niche but not for growing a community.

I notice that on Twitter, I can sometimes get some of the bigger motovloggers to reply back. Not sure why, but if it works, it works :D ~

Really, someone with the knowledge needs to post up on the advantages of each social media site, in level of importance, from greatest to least. I plan on using YouTube and Facebook, but have no real knowledge of Instagram, Google+, Twitter, and so forth. It would be great if there was a source or site where one could post up on all in combination at the same time... but that is wishful thinking. I also suppose it depends on whom you wish to post to as well, whether it be friends or new people interested in your subject.
