Keeping Viewers Watching

What all of us Motovloggers should do is conduct an experiment by getting a group of viewers like ummmm 100 or 200 and have them do a survey in what they look for when they watch motovlogs or what they would like to see in the videos. There's a topic right there haha. Now what I found out is that long videos are a no no! I did i think 10 minute or more vlog and I was told that it was good but they stopped half way through because they did not have enough time to watch it nor did they wanna sit there and watch it. So I started another vid up and cut that time in half and it was much better. So long videos equal no!

It depends on the tooic. Suffolk Andy does 10-15 minute vligs, generally on a hustorical topic, and they don't come across as long. things like that I won't watch when im pushed for time, I'll add it to watch later.

Ask the question at the beginning of the video, and then give your answer or opinion.

Accidental Broadcast does longer videos and I sit there hanging on every second.

It really is a case of the better you are the more people will watch.

I know when I post a 17 minute vlog hardly anyone will be watching it all. But, there are people out there that do watch the entire thing, because they either enjoy your vlog or do not have anything else to do at a given time. I remember binge watching bakerXderek videos, to catch up on his vlogs. If you get a subscriber that really likes your content they will probably do the same thing.

Now that I am active myself I have way less time to watch videos. But when I click on a video I tend to watch the entire thing.

if your intro is more than 10 seconds, i close the video...

also, try to keep them 5minutes and under.. Or you end up rambling on and repeating yourself.

my intro for my little bike is approx 5 seconds - for my big bike its only approx 3 - i hate long intros and make me not want to watch a video if it goes on for too long :/ Xx

My first intro was around 30 seconds which was way too long and even I got annoyed by it My new intro is only around 10 seconds which I think is okay. I also try to keep my videos as short as possible, but most of them tend to be around 7 to 10 minutes which is pretty long. I personally tend to watch shorter videos first and when there is time I watch a longer one. If I'm interested in a long vlog I sometimes add them to my watch later playlist.

Okay so I'm a rookie Motovlogger and so far I've posted 9 videos and 6 vlogs. What I've noticed thus far is the longer your video is.. the less views and less audience retention you have. I feel like my topics are good, and I deliver entertaining content. But I feel its not enough.. my goal is to be new and creative seeing as there are tons of new motovloggers making their start everyday. So now my idea that I want to get some feedback on. My average vlog duration is about 10-11 minutes, I'm wanting to cut that down to between 5-6 minutes that includes a 30 second cinema quality intro (3rd person video on action like scenes of me on my bike.) Now it will take some time to make that of course, BUT my question is would this make any of you guys more likely to watch the entire video?

Personally, I feel like a video being too long is better than a video being too short... When I see a new video I instantly look at how long it is, and if it is only 4-5 minutes long I typically don't watch it just because I don't feel it will be worth my time. I look for something with a little more content. I feel that 8-11 minutes is the "honey hole". However if it is longer, which many are, like 12-18 minutes, I will still watch it but might come back to it latter after when I have more time or after I have watched some of the shorter "honey hole" vids. And often times while watching a longer video I'll pause it during the middle and come back to it latter, but I always watch the hole Whole vid.

After gaining some experience you'll learn what your viewers are looking for and they will naturally shorten up.
