Any ideas on good youtube tags to start getting noticed?

its hard starting out on youtube and trying to get your channel noticed is even harder.

Any advice would be great :)

Have as few tags as possible and make them relevant to both your channel and video. The more you have, the less importance YouTube/Google gives each one when people search for those terms and instead looks only for large combinations of them.

Have a look through your videos and choose 3-5 key tags that you think represent your videos and what viewers can expect to see. Also choose 3-5 that represent your channel (bike brand & model, "motovlog" etc) and put them in every video too.

E.g. My global tags are "motovlog", "triumph street triple", "alps", "mountain", "lake"

Google will automatically sort out the various endings (lake/lakes etc) so don't go nuts with those like some people do as it will just make your channel less responsive to those words.

Good luck!

I always tried getting as many tags as possible. So I'm going to change that!

If you're running out of ideas for your tags, you can also try the Google keyword planner

Doesn't Google ignore tags anyway after it's got what your video is about from the comments? And if you call your video "bought an hp4", would hp4 then be redundant as a tag?

Correct on the former, but they're useful for initial searches. It has absolutely nothing to do with your comments though, but view time after searching for keywords, what else the viewer goes on to watch etc. It's all stupidly secret hush-hush though.

For the latter, apparently it's still worth having the tags but no one has been able to give me a straight answer as to why.

YouTube help forums are the best place to go for more advanced questions like that.

I try to put as many tags that are relevant to my video. Including my channel name and different variants that it could be typed as. I also put the entire tittle in my tags as well. As long as they are relevant then the more the better.

Google/YouTube used to suggest keyword cramming, but now it's against the rules. Who knows... the Google geeks are way above my pay grade  ~
