There's a difference between being stupid and being dangerous. Both need to be educated.

The stupid and ignorant haven't worked out why their actions were stupid and ignorant and potentially dangerous. Having a word, or shouting, could lead to a few immediate reactions: immediate riposte, apology, silence, ignoring you, among others. But they may well take on board what they have done, think about it at a later time, and may become a better driver.

The dangerous know that what they are doing is bad and putting people in danger, and they don't give two hoots. I keep away from them in most instances. I say most, because sometimes winding them up in the right situation can be a lot of fun.

It reminds me of my football. People tell me to stop shouting at them. Now, I'm playing with people who have played the game for 30 or 40 years, and they have still not learnt some of the basics. Doing the wrong things badly requires someone to understand they are doing the wrong bloody things in the first place.

Probably because every one of their coaches or playing buddies thought that it was best to be nice and say "unlucky mate, better luck next time" instilled the thought processes in these people they were doing the right things. When they are not. And in a fast-paced football game, I don't have the time to take them by the hand and quietly and nicely tell them that they are doing the wrong fecking thing!

Doing the right things badly means you just need more practice, but at least you were trying to do the right thing. That gets applause and encouragement.

Same on the road.

Both need to be educated, Agreed

By you, me, us. Not necessarily

And in terms of how you communicate, on the pitch if you shouted at me, first thought, what a dick! And maybe out of embarrassment realize what you are talking about, but unlikely.

It all depends on the role you play, If you are a manager or coach then it is your job to educate them, but if you are on the field then you are suppose to work and communicate as a team only may a cpt pull rank. But on the road, we are all just players, so you will get a far better response doing your bit to be noticed, avoiding trouble and if anyone is a potential hazard record there registration, and inform the police because they do issue warnings to those who have had complaints about there driving.

If you don't talk on the pitch, you're not a player, you're a passenger. To get your message across, people shout because of distance. You can't handle that? Get out of the game and take up knitting.

Hell yes I rage, mostly to myself because its fun, and sometimes to hopefully make someone aware of their actions.
I might tell someone off for using their phone, or swerving/drifting into my lane, tailgating etc. I don't go out looking for this though like some people. =\

I wont get physical, (whether it be smacking a mirror or smacking their head lol) unless its in self defense.. (I dont know why i'm even mentioning this I don't believe it'd ever get to this)

I can see ex-footnallers sitting supporting their friends with a ball of wool on the side lines. Maybe they can knit the corner flags.

Might be true for sport, but not on the road

I rage. But more likely at my phone, my bike or my camera!

Cagers I treat like hippos. They're big, dangerous, and a bit stupid sometimes. But I just try my best to not be in the way when something stupid happens.

I'll always try to make some stupid joke about people doing stupid stuff, partially to diffuse the situation for myself I think. And partially because I think that if the person is stupid enough that they don't care, then shouting at them is just going to enrage them. Which is like saying 'your mum' jokes to somebody with a gun. Conversely, if they are too clueless to know what it was that they did, then me getting angry at them will probably fluster the poor delicate doofus and make them do something even more stupid!

Overall, if I let cagers make me angry, that raises my stress levels and then I'M more likely to do something not entirely thought through. Adrenalin is a fickle friend!

Well looking at the poll I'd say it is conclusive, I am not surprised by the overall result, and very pleased with the response. I would call it thread closed but I will let it get dug down and allow anyone who hasn't had the chance to vote, put in there 2cents
