Whats The Deal With Views Not Translating To Hits On Video?

GHOSTNINJA

Lets do this!
So, maybe this was asked before. I noticed I post a video in the 'Watch Moto Vlog" section that say get 60 views. Yet, my youtube video does not reflect that. I understand that people may click in, then not watch it but, really... Maybe I amnot understanding something here. Anyone else know what the heck I am talking about haha

60 views on motovlog is how many people have viewed the thread. You only increment the YT count if they press play.

I look at the video threads on here. I then choose to view the video based on the topic. If it's a dirt biking video I'm less likely to watch it than a randoms video or one of a trip up the Stelvio. The next person may have opposite tastes to me. We've both read the thread on here, but only one of us has watched the video, so the two thread views you see was only one YT view.

HTH

I won't watch a video if I open the thread and see it's a "link and run" post, that will contribute to a thread view but not a youtube view.

Woah, you're getting all techy on me now C&C. "Link and run"? Is that a specific button you need to press when you upload?

yeah I wasn't aware of this feature :P but basically, just because your thread has views doesn't mean your video has, if you ask for feedback and it looks like an interesting video you will get views more often.

I can tell for a fact one of my videos that you commented on Ninja, you hadn't watched, as you had nothing to say about the topic and you commented on stuff youcouldnt see in the video

I've noticed that too, I was suggested to come on here to help grow my channel but I haven't gotten one sub and little to no views from it. But it's still fun chatting on here a bit

It'll come, people can not use forums for a few weeks, just might not be your target audience here. A different topic, or a different way of introducing the video might have a big effect.

yeah I just kinda think it is what it is. I make my motovlogs for me because I enjoy making them. Don't get me wrong I want the channel to grow and I am working on that but if it doesn't then I am okay with that for now.

I've gained subs in fits and starts, and I've not always been able to attribute it to something. The last month I've gained 30 subs. How? No idea!

Agreed, you gotta do it because you wanna do it

Agreed, I'm thankful just for views and some interaction. That's all I look for, and if I don't get that oh well. I go back and watch my RAW footage all the time just to remember what I was doing that day and I love doing editing. I took TV Production in High School and I loved doing that kind of stuff so its a fun hobby for me. This place is really cool too. There are a bunch of great vloggers on here I would never have subbed if it had not been for this site.

Well, I've got two videos up so far, the early one, which is not even public and quite shocking video quality, but shot in the early morning, has 39 views on YT and 98 views on this forum. The newer vid with much better editing, video quality and sound, has 22 views on YT and 69 views on this forum. ..and my channel has 3 subs so far, two of which I can confirm is not from here. Being an absolute noob, I obviously value every bit of feedback I can get, whether people liked my videos or not.

well you are on the right path man. I have 26 subs, and I think about 650 views in total, although it varies because I think my most viewed video only has 36 views and some online have 1 or 2 or 3. So I think the key it to just keep it going, build your channel the way you want it to be. and don't get discouraged if your views go down (because they will) youtube says after 30 videos you lose 75% of your viewers. But depending on what you do, you can gain them back or gain new ones.

I would say just keep it up and the views and subs will come. But we can't all get huge on youtube right away

Oh I'm not fazed, rather pleasantly surprised. I don't talk much in my videos you see. I do it to share my rides, and I'm happy with whatever the viewer gets out of it.

I see the value of this sitemore as a sharing of information around biking and vlogging rather than an audience building mechanism. Successful vloggers' subs are completely made up of people who will never have heard of motovlog.com. Think of ourselves as the nerdy end of an already niche market lol
