New Helmet!

Flip helmets scare me to death.
These are a few of my helmets

I think flip fronts are like unprotected sex. They're exhilarating and feel great as long as nothing goes wrong. But when it does, you roll the dice and you could be in serious trouble!

HJC fan then :)

I don't ride with the flip up bar when I ride the 30 metres from my house to the filling station.

I used to ride around at University all the time with a completely open faced Jet helmet. But then I used to be made of rubber and drink til 4am every night with nairy a hangover. How things change....

I looked at a Schuberth (forgotten which one) saw the price tag and decided not at that price...

I'm trying to picture an incident where you would lift the chin piece up, and what it would do to your neck in any helmet if you did.

Ive seen the buttons to open flip face right on the bottom of the chin, and lets face it not every helmet is made to the same standard as another

Don't forget the extra statistic that they put in for System helmets. The Percentage of times the lid stayed SHUT during impact. All flip fronts were NOT created equal! Caberg desfinitely seems to be winning that race by a country mile at the moment. Sadly their helmets are too 'short' for my Jimmy Hill Chin and beard!
Interesting to know, how do they relate to a Shoei shape?

@CBRHoonigan - my button is heavily recessed behind the chin on the Lazer, and the Nolan has a two button operation to release it (you can do it one handed), one is on the front and the other just at the bottom behind the chin. Neither are going to be accidentally released.

@C&C - The Shoei Multitech didn't fit my chin, but the replacement Neotec does. The old Caberg V2 was a great fit, the Justis and Dukes don't, yet the Nolan and the Lazer do. They change the shapes. I've not tried any other Shoeis though. HJC fitted my chin, but either the headbands were too tight and the cheeks fitted or the headbands were OK and the cheeks loose, and they don't do optional pads like Shoei. This was the HJC flip (R-PHA?).

I know but do you see where im coming from the opening is a weak area of the helmet which makes me paranoid and thus not wanting one

The Schuberth helmets were an excellent fit, but most of the others I tried weren't. I wish the manufacturers would create helmets for multiple shaped heads.
