Voice Recorder App

I use Miidio recorder but not for vlogs. I found that the built-in mic on the phone is sensitive enough but if I plug-in an external mic (from the headset), it doesn't pick-up the sound so clearly.
I have to try on my helmet though.

OK, so I just fixed all my problems.. hopefully.. I bricked my phone about 3-4 times doing it though. lol.

I just went and put on a custom ROM, rooted the phone, and added a kernel that enables you to set gain levels for mic, and put them at 0... so far so good from initial testing.. if you guys wanna know more let me know and I'll make a guide on it or something.

I had the same failures. I naively bought a camera with no external mic thinking my phone would work fine and I could use the mic from my hands free kit. WRONG!! Just way too sensitive no matter WHAT I tried. And I couldn't find ANY apps that gave up enough control of the gain settings to actually make it useable.

Plus, unless you're recording in 24 bit WAV, the noise floor is so high that when you get home and try to bring the volume back up, you just get loads of noise.

Ended up buying a Tascam sound recorder. But having 2 record buttons to push got old, so then just got a Drift! So in all, I ended up wasting a ton of cash! #Winning

Yeah, anyways it's not like you need pristine audio for a motovlog. Sometimes with high quality "pro" recorders you just end up with high quality, 44.1KHz PCM wind noise.

For vlogging you just need to:
  • Deal with the mic: Get a good one, make one yourself, hack something together, whatever works and records clear sound when out of the bike.
  • Deal with putting it into the helmet: Get creative, do a lot of tests, move it around, take your time. Each position has a different result.
  • Deal with unwanted noise: Put foam, filters, pieces of dead animals, whatever so we can hear only your voice and maybe a subtle bike engine note.
You don't need to get anything but the action camera. The science behind good audio, in our target material and audience is not into getting the best sound recorder. The camera is good enough. It won't work that well if you connect a low quality and badly positioned mic.

The Mobius doesn't support connecting a microphone. I have no other choice but to use a second device for recording my voice.
The Mobius mic is actually quiet good, but it wont record your voice while driving and at higher speeds there is a very annoying whistling sound...

I've been using RecForge on my Samsung Galaxy Note II
Dude, taht App is awesome!
Have it on -11db, I think I'll go just a bit lower and the recording should be fine. My voice is easy to understand, the engine is in the background, no big wind noises.
I mean it doesnt sound professionell, but just good enough! Thanks so much for the tip!
