so i wanted to start a thread about just random fails and things i kick myself in the ass for after i see what i did wrong. like today i when on a good 45-60 min ride with my cam on the helmet for the first time and i had the camera recording upside down the whole time. fml im going to play with some editing and see if i can flip it later.

Should be easy to flip it!

My skeleton case for the gopro is a bit small for the usb->3.5mm mic cable so sometimes it doesn't like to record! Had a whole day of riding without any sound. Doh.

i know there are going to a lot more fails to come on my end as im just trying to figure out the gopro and video editing. hopefully i will eventually put out some good videos

I've found the best practice is to just do a quick clip (5sec?), make sure audio and video looks right before you set off...I've forgotten audio, flipping video (especially if i'm changing mounts), wrong mode, just about everything...

yeah i just have to take the time to check my phone before heading off. i really like the app for the gopro. the only issue i have with the mic is i dont have one yet but im sure i will make a mistake somewhere down the line. i am still yet a grasshopper.

Absolutely no problems with my drift ;)

I ran out of battery, storage (when using my old 8GB card), bad video settings (Too dark, date-time overlay), mic disconnected and one that gave me a lot of trouble since I don't check the footage soon after I record. I was used to put the camera on REC then mounting it on top of my helmet and connect the mic. That doesn't work, the camera senses the mic only before recording so if you switch from internal/external mid-rec, the camera won't acknowledge the change.
Besides that, the camera never let me down. All user mistakes.
Flipped videos are frequent with my Liq camera since you need to connect it to your smartphone to change the settings, most of the time I cannot bother but it's easy to fix in editing and you can rotate the video while playing in MPCHC.

The free edition of GoPro studio will flip the video with 1 mouse click, so should sort you out no probs...
Also to get you going, they have some very quick, but good video tutorials on their website, or there is some on youtube..... i wathed these to figure out how to do a slow mo section whilst ooming in at the same time, then panning back out to noraml view and speed.

I too am yet but a grasshopper..:)

I was riding down a road and got some good video and when i watched it. a bug splat all over the lens and could not see anything lol

Well with the drift you can rotate the lens and just go from there, its the mic set up which is harder. I have never seen a video of a go pro falling off like that, I want to see the footage from the camera. Its probably really shaky :P
