My Yearly Sub Cull

TriumfAnt

It was good while it lasted
Just gone through the motovloggers I'm sub'd to and deleted most who hadn't uploaded in over a year. I must have removed over 30. Some of them had a couple of thousand subs or had been motovlogging for 3 or 4 years, so it wasn't just new people who gave up when they didn't reach 1 million subs in their first week :)
Apart from one who doesn't currently have a bike, and another who gave up because motovlogging has 'changed', all the rest just seemed to turn their back on it all and walk away.

I personally wouldn't do that.
I'd rather unsub from the top ten that frequently upload "filler" vlogs only to stick to a schedule rather than the ocassional vlogger who posts interesting content once in a while.
It is also great to get into your video list a new vlog from someone who hasn't posted lately. Something you don't get when you unsubscribe.
It's not like they're using up some space or anything and the list of subscriptions isn't even easy to navigate to so, why bother?

Please be patient with the folks out here in the central and northern U.S... it gets cold and nasty here during the winter, can't ride :( .....

I checked their pages first, before deleting. No activity from them, including replies to people asking where they are and what they're doing. If they were still active, just not posting videos, then they got a reprieve :)
@Shirou I don't follow anyone who posts filler videos. I unsubbed from quite a few of the big motovloggers for that very reason. I don't care if your uploads are irregular, as long as they're interesting.
Don't worry @RoninK6, even one video a year excludes people from my cull :)

Just about everyone I know from vlogging two years ago have stopped posting now. My subs box is looking pretty empty, aside from BuzzFeed videos.

I don't necessarily think people turn their back on the community entirely. Lots of people, including me, met a great bunch of people through vlogging and splintered off into their own groups. Does it still make them part of the community? Arguable, I suppose. But then again, it all depends on how you define community.

What's those "filler" vlogs? Do I have any of them? *worried* I don't think I have. Can someone please check? Don't want to put stuff out that ppl think is something bad in that way it sounds.

I think I might not have seen your latest video or two yet, but from what I've seen, I wouldn't call them fillers, so don't worry yourself :) ;) ... it's all good :D !

A filler is a vlog that is "uncooked", unprepared and that shouldn't ever go online. It's easy to spot because the vlogger is all over the place, can't get his ideas straight and ends up being like whatever, ~Upload~ *Click*.

Obviously people have their own live and own reasons for not uploading... but it strikes me a little when someone just up and stops... like your favorite TV show being cancelled without warning...

The people who last are the ones who are worth it...I'm just happy to be creative again, I used to go out and shoot and edit still photography then I got stale and lost the drive and vlogging has brought that bit of a spark back!

We all 'change the channel' after a while. Spose we are creatures of persuation and influence.
So the channel you most watch will obviously Entertain you or just Float ya Boat...?
Channels that do stop, NO reason...WTF!!, u inconsiderate, wanna-be Steven Speilburg's!!!

Do what u have to do. Totally aggree with an 'innactive' channel Cull, "move aside please, let someone in who's actually doing something!!".
Waaaaay too many 'innactive's' out there...Even channels with MY FU%#EN Channel name!!!! (CrashTestDummyTV)
YT, sort ya shit out pls, ifu gunna make it so WE CANT copyright. What about the copy channel names...? huh YT...? (sry getn off topic...lol)

As far as yee all that I am subbed too...I may not comment too much at times, but just like a Stalker, im still watching you, ALL your movements...just from a distance...lol
> : )

The only counter-argument I would have is that people have lives (ooh, that sounds bad  !) and when things happen in life, sometimes priorities take over. Marriage, kids, jobs, relocations, age, etc. I know one day I'll probably get to the point where I can't do videos as frequently as I would like to... or maybe not even at all :p . Nothing lasts forever ;) !
