Drift Video File Naming..

itsatruestory

Pull my finger!
Everytime I record a video it will automatically save as FILE001 FILE002 etc, once they are deleted, the new recorded videos will then be saved under the same name.

Is there a way not to have them saved like that, Id rather have it like a digital camera which will not restart the counter until you've taken 9999 photos (my camera anyway).

Only reason I want that to happen is so when I transfer them onto my PC I won't need to rename every single video.

'normal' drift or Ghost? ... my ghost keeps up with the numbering.... its over 200 now and none of the earlier ones are on the camera any more!

My Drift HD Ghost keeps incrementing the file names, currently up to VI000262.mp4, whereas my older Drift HD 170 Stealth always start from FILE0001.MOV every time.

Letting iPhoto import them sorts this out, and it doesn't matter what your camera uses as a file name.

Normal 1080p Drift. Thats what I want it to do but doesn't :S

But iPhoto will only rename it right? So on the camera it will still reset :/

I'd be inclined to say that it's a limitation of the firmware. I would be surprised if there is anything you can do about it :(

thats a good point!! ... bit fiddly perhaps with always having to remember to leave the previous last vid on there... but a workable solution!

I really dont see it as a problem i go through them find what i wana keep and just rename that so i know to copy it :)

Leave the last video in the card and it will keep counting from that.
Yeh I guess, but once I drag and drop the videos onto my hard drive, I eject the drift and then delete the videos all at once :/ But i guess this is the only solution. Cheers.

Ive started doing that, but I keep ALL footage I take as there may be things on there I didn't see while actually recording. (refer to point above)

I keep files in a dated folder regardless of the camera naming system, I then know where to look if I want to go back. You could keep a Word/text file diary for where you were and what you did on any given day.

Just noticed, my Ghost (regular) resets the count if you empty the memory card. Wonder why I thought it kept it going...?

o_O

firmware update? .... mine keeps the count going and i have cleaned out the card numerous times.....

... or did you format the card again?

Firmware is up to date... May have been a card format, find out next time I use it as I've not formatted it since.
