Next bike advice

Hey guys I'm a little torn on my next bike and could use a little advice.

I wanted a GSXR-750 but I've been presented with two options which are almost too good to pass up.
The first is a '07 ZX6R, very nice condition at £3k. It's not my first choice of bike but it just looks so good in the flesh that it's ridiculously tempting. I also wouldn't be too upset if I were to drop her. still upset but not as much as if it were the below.

The second option is a GSXR-600 L1 which has yet to be registered and has 0 miles on it and I can get that for a little over £7k. This is the most tempting option out of the two but it will mean I have a small finance payment for a little while too. It won't be very large but I'd prefer not to have one really.

Or should I just hold out and look for the so far elusive GSXR-750?

There's no hurry to decide and I know it's a personal preference but I could live with any of these bikes I think.

I would go brand new if you don't mind losing the 20% tax the minute you sit on the bike. I prefer new bikes so I don't mind the little finance. I like the feeling of noone else having the buzz of MY bike. (yes I know the dealer rides a mile or two on it). I like the idea of warranty, no MOT and pretty much do as I liek with the knowledge that the dealer will fix it

If you can hold out until Autumn, you'll get far better deals as the season starts to slow down.

I usually prefer new myself, I completely understand the whole 'my bike' thing. I'd be keeping her for a few years so the depreciation isn't too big an issue.

By the autumn hopefully the other half will have concluded she needs a bike licence and I'm planning on getting her an MT:07, which I will obviously ride too ;)

The warranty and no MOT has a lot of appeal as does the knowledge that I'll know whatever happens to the bike so no nasty surprises.

I'm taking her to see the 600 at the weekend under the pretence of letting her have a say in the purchase.

I'm considering 750 as my next bike.

GSXR 600 is good but its not the best bike in the 600 class and GSXR 750 is well much better then any 600 (recording to MCM ;) )
Also I don't like the look of 2007 ZX6, but its up to you :)

One more thing, since this is your first big bike I would suggest getting something like Fazer 600 or ER6 as oppose to supersport bike...

Ah the trick of getting the misses to pass so you'll have a winter bike lol - I like it

Well you've got me torn, on one hand you get all the bike for half the price in the zx6... On the other hand what I always say is get what you want and don't compromise. If you want a gsxr 750 why are you even looking at other bikes?

Ditch your er before first MOT else it will lose value very quickly

haha like its worth anything now :P
Na I will probable keep it for the next few years, good little commuter :) the earliest I would be looking at another big bike is next summer :/ I have some time to decide between ducati 848 and gsxr 750...

pffft .. gsxr's and zed something-or-others ...;) .. hunched up and leg cramps and gotta stop every 30 mins so you dont end up in a back brace!! o_O

you mentioned mt07? .. for your missus .... well .... why not do that .. and you get the big brother!! .. MT09!! ... simple common design familiarity between the 2 bikes....

all this supersport "now i can go warp 300!!" ... when?!?!?!? you gonna track day? ...

test ride the mt09!! ... its addictive!!

mmm yeah Cods ... i dont really expect he will choose the sheer hooligan fun of the MT ..

but .. while i am not passionate about supersports (though i dont knock back a squirt on one if offered) ... the zx6r .. mate had one .. its so... 9/10ths!! (10/10ths being reserved for full on big dollar jobs) .. ... for that matter a lot of the options listed are very ... twitchy! .. which is fun!! .. but if you cant work them to potential .. is it as much fun?! .. or just pose factor? .. i dunno...

abomin8tion .. what bike are you coming from here?? .. to the delirious fun of your listed road missiles? :);):D

How many miles you got now lol?

The bike is about 9 months old and I've done 13k, 4 services, change set of tyres(never buy Bridgestone bt21), just change chain and sprockets and about a month ago orwel replace a wheel bearing under warranty... So I'm slowly becoming laterider, spend soo much that I have to keep my bike for the next decade...

If your insurance covers everything and you are experienced enough, go for the newest/best bike you can afford. 0 mile gsxr sounds like a good deal and I think a 600 is more than enough for what most of us use bikes for. I took a small loan to get my '12 R6, it just feels better to have a spotless bike, rather than getting used to the old scratches and wears left from the previous owner/s.

I just looked at you fb page, what happened to R6?

I had to sell her in 2008, it was a bad time. Overextended financially and then the shit hit the fan globally. The company I worked for was in trouble and went under, I wasn't getting enough in each month to cover my bills and do that eating thing I'd become so fond of. I had to make a lot of sacrifices at the time and she was one of them.

I sold her to a mate for a bargain price, I was able to eat and he got an immaculate ride. Bad times and I learned a lot.

The MT:09 has actually been in the running since it launched. It's impressive but right now I'm still wanting a sports bike. It's an itch which needs to be scratched.

I'm still on a YZF R125 right now Janx, it was only meant to be a commuter to reduce my fuel bills (which it has done great) but now I need a little something more.
