Hey guys,

Thought I'd share this with you.

It's a small article about the new Skully P1 helmet. It Features a small display in your visor, a rear view camera and has all kinds of other features.

Check it out!

Now you don't have to take your hands of the handles..

I think someone will hack it in the future and you'll be able to watch your favorite vloggers while riding!!! (worst idea ever!)

Have a good day.

I'll believe it when I see it! It's all well and good producing graphics to demonstrate how a product is intended to work, but it's another thing putting it into reality.

The make here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24184734 is attempting the same thing and they estimate the RRP of the lid will be about $2000!

Good proof-of-concept, but I want my existing manufacturer (HJC) to use this tech. There is too much Skully will likely get wrong trying to make helmets; too few shell sizes, lack of shell shapes to fit different heads (long-oval, round-oval, medium-oval), noise, lack of features such as a chin-curtain, lack of visor choices and chinbar style (which for vlogging is a big deal to me), etc. Hopefully, those giant 'skully' letters are removable.

What I think will happen is that components will be available for your existing helmet, or manufacturers will make certain components available for their helmets such as NAV, voice, rear-view cams, music players/Bluetooth, etc.

Where does one even go to try on a Skully? The Internet? That's a logistical nightmare.

Hey Spacepod, good points indeed, i only found out about the Skully last night but you've raised very valid points indeed! Nice vlog, i watch all your epsiodes!

Of all my gear i've always spent the most money on my helmet as your brain is the most important organ in your body i guess. I'll never forget buying gear for the 1st time, i knew what i HAD to do but the cool cheapy helmet with the sickest graphic was whispering sweet nothings in my ear to which the Yamaha salesman said "700 buck helmet, 700 000 buck brain surgery in a possible accident"....i bought a Shoei that day. Anyway, besides the gadgetry and gimmicks of this amazing helmet, above all it shall be the level of safety it offers which determines if i part with my hard earned South African rands....

Don't believe I can post links yet, but you may want to check out 'NUVIZ' on kickstarter. It's a HUD which you attach to your existing helmet - looks the goods (for a prototype which no one has seen).

If their kickstarter campaign goes ahead (which it doesn't look like it will unfortunately) I would put this way above the Skully helmet for most of the reasons mentioned above, would love to have this attached to my Shoei. Their example video is pretty kickass in comparison too.

Looks pretty good but obvious problems as mentioned. Plus not everyone is going to want to fork out for a new helmet no matter how good the safety, when they've already got one doing a brilliant job. As said before best option is probably a system that fits into existing helmets. Definitely will wait to see what happens though, as when the time comes for an upgrade it could be a viable solution. Only time will tell.
