What are the biggest challenges you have faced regarding motovlogging of recent?

After all the lockdowns and the financial fallout from them etc, have you found it has had any impact on your channel, be it views, creating content, buying new kit etc?
I think the main thing I struggle with is having the drive to go places, I loved visiting castles and historical places before it, but when they all got shut, I fell out of the habit of doing stuff, and have struggled a lot since.
Have you felt the same at all?

I have felt strange to saddle up and ride from time to time. I always find having a purpose at the stop is helpful like getting something you need on your shopping list.

The other strain is finances but not due to lack of money but rather two children in college now. Even today during a visit one asked for an upgraded new computer.

Thank goodness for motocamping.

I have discovered the increased fuel price to have a bit larger effect on me, than I estimated. I try to avoid talking about it on the vlogs though, because 90% of motovloggers, who I watch, have already brought it up.
The biggest delay that covid has caused me, is stopping me from going on my next trip, which I am planning on starting in just couple of weeks now. So unless something major happens, this will rather be a year of success, than anything else.

Motocamping is a great way to do something without breaking the bank.
Aye the cost of fuel has been covered by many vloggers, it is what it is, nothing we can do about it, so like you, I am affected by it, but am not going to vlog about it... it hasn't stopped me doing recreational rides, but it has made me drive a bit more frugally and had me commute on the bikes a bit more as they get double the mpg of my van!

Just trying to connect to viewers. My videos are not typical, and its a niche channel so that's always a challenge. There aren't a lot of great roads for me to explore in my area, so I try to plan for day trips or
longer to interesting places or events.

The real biggest challenge is there's just not enough time in the day to do all the things I want. I guess I should play the lottery more.

The high gas prices isn't helping my lust for long distance trips, I find myself taking the Tesla more on long trips now. I haven't done too many multi-day bike trips since the pandemic, next year I'm going to change that back to "normal".

My biggest challenge is sitting down at the computer to edit after spending all day jockeying my workstation at the day job. All I want to do after a shift is move around by working on my house, ride my bicycle, tinker with something mechanical in the garage, hike or work in the garden. Every time I look at my office with all the footage I have and freelance work I keep letting pile up I just shudder and walk outside.

And I second or third or whatever motocamping! I got out this past weekend to just get away from work and people asking me to help them with stuff. I have another 15 hours of footage and if things ago according to precedence, I'll make a vlog out of it in February 2024.

Two things for me:

1. New ideas or places to visit. Where I live there don't seem to be any nice twisties and stuff like that, just boring straight roads, which means I need to compensate for that with better content ideas.
I can't be doing bike reviews all the time, and also I'm not a very mechanical person to do tutorials on how to upgrade various bits and pieces on the bike.

So I'm sort of struggling to find some great motorbike related video ideas that will keep users engaged.

2. Not sure about you guys, sometimes I just want to go out and ride. But in the same time, I do want to use that opportunity to record some videos, to obviously grow my channel and all that.

But sometimes it feels like a pain in the ass to prepare and bring everything: cameras, sd cards, batteries, etc.. . And then I just end up not doing it..

Some off time, from recording (or us time with the bike :p ), is absolutely necessary. It's probably better to do it in stints. You think of topics, and try to record a lot at once, then do some editing in bulk, etc. If I'm not mistaken it was @Drakhen99 who also discussed this recently in one of his videos, how doing it this way, helps to keep it more interesting.

Doing the "motowork" in bulk/chunks like you and Draken99 is really the best practice. I shared a video from YouTube's creator series where a large channel broke it down in smaller chunks.

This can help keep us on track too when we lose motivation.

Yep, I also fit into the lack of motivation & issues with laptop. Add to this it being winter…

I went for a ride today with a club I belong to (I went with the intention to film) but couldn’t be bothered filming. Sometimes I just want to ride…
I went out today without my cameras too, is nice to not have to think about them for the odd ride! :-)

+1 to many of the comments others have raised above. Finances have been squeezed, motivation is languishing.

I moved up to Scotland last Autumn, there's some epic roads up here, I should be out all the time, but I'm just not that much. Stretching ourselves a little on the house move hasn't left us with a huge amount of wiggle room for the rising bills, I'm also spending much spare time doing DIY and maintenance stuff on the house.

I'm working from home full time now, so no commuting on the bike like i used to. Then when you spend all day in front of the computer, spending more time video editing, blogging etc kind of loses some appeal.

I've hooked up with a few new biking buddies up here, but we're all busy and struggle to schedule much. There's also few decent group rides organised in the groups I've checked out, certainly less than there was in London - lower biker population I guess. So again, less riding and generally solo or family rides.

I actually stopped doing that, for the most part. Being back in the office this year has meant lots of "forced" rides [who wants to pay for gas for a truck, when a motorcycle ride is the replacement?]

What this means, is I get two videos out of each commute - and I've got my routes nailed down so I know how much time I have for a topic.

On the weekends, is the time for multiple videos recorded on a nice, long, summer ride.

But yes, bult recording and editing is nice. I've been getting home from a ride, downloading and organizing the footage on my computer, and then syncing the cameras and breaking it into separate videos. Then, they sit in a queue until I get time to edit... which has been lacking of late. Right now I have 3 videos currently uploaded to YT and ready to be published - that's lower than it's been in many many months.

I'll very often mix the two. Meaning I'll ride a good distance from home, film a motovlog, and then put the cameras away and take the very long way home. So I get both a filming ride and a ride for the fun of it out of one very long trip.

I've found this is my favorite way to film for my channel.

Summer time for you now, hope you are getting out on the bikes lots?
