Seeing a lot of youtubers doing "What I made on youtube in 2021" videos. Granted, I follow a bunch of financial channels, so it's on point for them, not so much for motovloggers.

I recently watched Doodle's video on what YouTube paid her but it was several years old. My first thought was, I could make this better by listing not only a monthly revenue breakdown, but also how many views there were and how many subscribers I gained. Make it a bit more relatable.

Then I thought... maybe most people aren't doing this because it's in poor taste, even if it isn't a lot of money? (I'm basically making pennies per hour lol)

What are your thoughts? Please see the poll and leave a reply. If anyone would want to do this with me I'd be open to that.

For me it is a bit crass, so I voted no. Some channels the same size as mine earn a shed load more than I do, others don't earn anything as they chose to keep money out of it. What people earn is not my business, and what I earn is no one else's either! :-)

I don't think I have clicked on almost any recap type videos, not exclusive to financial overview.

I don't mind you making the video. With more subs than most motovloggers it gives people a look at their future. It might encourage some, it might do the exact opposite. I'm all for more information and learning, the more info the better. This is such a niche market, how often do we get these insights?

I've thought about making such a video on my channel because I've had a few viewers ask me how well YT pays for a channel of my size. I've decided not to do it though, because:

A) I don't think it's all that interesting a topic, because
B) I haven't made much at all yet, LOL!

I admit I do enjoy watching other motovloggers talk about how much their channels make per year, I simply don't think I'll make one myself. Part of me agrees with Hippo though, it feels a tad tacky, and for that reason I voted no.

That brings up a good point. Sounds like despite not wanting to make one yourself, you would still watch it if another motovlogger made one. Maybe that should have been my question lol

As a follow-up I put a poll out to my audience because I realized, well, they're my audience lol. It was a tight race but in the end:

At first, I didn't want to appear crass... Then when I looked at my income versus how much I spent on the channel that stopped being a concern lol

Then, I didn't want to waste my time on it if no one was going to care to watch it
Based on the poll, I still wasn't sure it would get many views, so I was still on the fence.

What broke the tipping point was one of my subscribers commenting that it might appear to be "showboating" to share these numbers. At which point I realized... I don't think people realize what a negative ROI motovlogging is as an income stream, so I better make this video to clear up any misunderstandings.

Anyway, I will share the results in the Members Videos thread or whatever it's called, for those who are interested.
