Youtube Issue or Editor Issue

This has happened a few times now.
So, I edited my latest video and uploaded it the same way I always do.
One comment, Drakhen99, pointed out that the time on the thumbnail was about 10 minutes different than the actual video length. When this has happened in the past I didn't think anything of it but this time I started wondering if this could affect views. Someone might not watch a 22 min video but 12 is fine.
Has anyone had this before? I went back into my editing software to see if I could see something obvious.
I usually have the format set on MPEG-2 1920x1080 with a frame rate of 30.
Redid it with H.264 AVC selected and Quality at MPEG-4 1920x1080/60p (40Mbps) selected and rendered it again. (I have a long list of options just picked this one)
Was a bigger file so if took longer to upload but the times matched on this go. Weird.
So I will leave these settings like this for the next one and see how it goes.

What editing software are you using? If Adobe Premiere, it may be the Work Area bar is extended longer then the length of your video.

But wouldn't there be an actual empty\black video at the end? That could be easily seen by checking if the footage ends at video end.

Sometimes when I am cutting and splicing a thin scrap of footage will appear and get pushed out toward the end. So I try to make it habit to play through the end before uploading.

Most definitely. I wasn’t sure if NVARider meant he posted his video after rendering, but didn’t look at it at first. A lot of my students do this when rendering out their work (in Premiere) where the Work Area bar is extended beyond the the length of the edited video.

I did look at it first. Several times actually. Haha. Making sure nothing weird was going on. The rendered file before uploading to YouTube is correct. Just odd.

Yeah, that really is odd. YouTube has been doing some odd things of late. They used to add a second to the length of my videos, now they don’t (or at least based on my last upload).

I've had this happen too. Now I always watch my videos from start to finish with a scrutinizing eye before I upload.

I've never had a video time length be mismatched though...

That could probably come from framerates not matching and the video being exactly a frame or two longer than that specific second?

Totally weird, and I haven't seen it happen before, so I am 99% sure it's a YT problem.

Unless your video editor is doing something esoterically weird with your video file... I use Davinci Resolve, FWIW.
