Heres a question for all you lovely people, are your tyres still safe? You check the pressures and tread depths but how old are they? Did you know most manufacturers recommend changing them at 7 years old regardless of if they are worn out? I talk about that in this video and also tootle off to get some new tyres for my bike!

My front had a moment of escaping under me quite recently.
Thread is still good, but tyre has some cupping, hence not that great to full-on corner anymore.

Is also from '14 i think, so might need replacing anyways.

As my bike is brand new still good as far as the rubber goes. Anyone on here have a tire changer? My brother gets a lot of use out of his. Thinking about shooting a video next time we change tires.

Great video.

My tires don't normally live more than year in prepandemic times.

I recall long ago learning from a motorcycle tech program that motorcycle tires hate being parked on frozen concrete because the temp of the surface alters the compound of the rubber so they recommended parking the bike on cardboard or carpet in the winter.

I could not convince my wife to let me put bike in the living room ;)

Local garage changes the tyres for free when i only bring the wheel.
Taking the wheel off the bike is easy, so i tend to do that ;)

Don't stop riding also helps ;)

I also do that.

But also believe in paying people for their time
Definitely yes.
But he has his marge in the tyre he sells to me ;)

If i buy a tyre online and bring tyre and wheel together he will also charge a fee.
Often it ends up around the same price for me, so i just order the tyre through him ;)
