Throttle Back Rubber Down
I went out today with the intentions of getting footage for my second ever vlog post. I started out just fine but could tell after I got started that I just didn't "have it" today. My first session things flowed really well. Today everything was choppy and disjointed. I think I am going to re-shoot most of my riding as I was attempting an owner review of my new bike and am not satisfied. Anyone else have those types of days? After awhile I just called it quits and enjoyed the ride!

All my bike reviews are garbage, they get great views though. A format you could try is 3 things I love and 3 things I hate about xzy. That way you can edit out the waffle and keep it on point. And if folk know you are only gonna talk about 6 things, then they won't feel you are wasting their time! :-)

Thats a good way to approach it. I try to stay away from Bike reviews but, I do get to ride lots of different bikes when I travel - so it is possibly an opportunity missed. Just "bike reviews" didnt feel like my thing as I dont really have the knowledge! But, I might personally use it, for 3 things I love and 3 things I hate about riding in xyz!

As for bad days and blocks. Yeah everyone has them! Wait for the demotivating tech issues!! Those days - sometimes weeks before resolved really take it out of you. Dont force it. Ride. See what happens. Observe the world around you. Talk to yourself. Find your feet so to speak. Start with a topic you are passionate about, like something about the bike you absolutely love and go from there. If its something you really love about the bike then I'm guessing it'll flow. Engage with the views, see if they agree in the comments.

I don't follow his channel, but look at Yammie Noob, he is always doing list videos, as he has realised it is a cash cow as the 3/5/10 things I love/hate/you need/you should avoid vids get loads of views as YT pushes those better.

I used too follow him but unsubscribed. Just wasn't my thing.

I did notice chaos causes biggest views were all list videos.

They are also really easy vids to make, you literally only need to remember 6 or so key words and then state why for each point... You could be really snappy in an edit and get a nice short vid that more viewers watch a higher percentage of, or drag it out a bit and get a lower possible percentage of the video viewed, but more watchtime! :)

I can't ride for 2 weeks as the bike needs to go into triumph. It's dangerous at the moment spitting oil out everywhere and onto the back wheel, not to mention the damage riding it might do.

Might try my hand at a 5 things I love about my bike and 5 things I hate as I can't ride until it's fixed and feeling an itch to want to edit! Of course, I'm going to put my own spin on it. Bob the puppy will of course, feature somehow!

I really wanted to do my full exhaust video as got some great ideas for it... But safety first. It'll have to wait for 2 weeks.

Oh no, I hope they can get to the bottom of it simply and cheaply for you Bob! :O

Thanks! It's due a 10k service anyway (just gone past it- bit of a milestone for the bike)

I've had the fairing all off but can't see where it's coming from, which is strange as it's leaking a fair bit!

Working on the 5 things I hate video now and actually really enjoying it. As always my own spin and my own flavour.

Sorry to hear about the bike...hopefully it will get sorted quickly.

Thanks! Me too! Missing riding here especially as it's great riding weather today!

At least it gives me a chance to use some of the footage of when my mic was playing up to do voice over on my 5 things I hate and 5 thing I love video. I was about to delete that footage, but looks like it might come in handy for this video after all!

Hopefully after her 10k service and oil leak fix she'll be better than ever!

Any suggestions on what I should request from triumph as a loaner?

Sorry OP for the thread highjack! To bring it back to topic a little, has anyone ever taken out someone else's bike / loaner or rental to get some inspiration? I love riding hire bikes when I travel and that in itself can be inspiring

Hmm. The tigers of all sizes are cool. I also think a speed triple would be a fun loaner.

I'm the type of person who will not stop until I get something done right. I had and still have many of those days that you are experiencing. It's all part of the process! Nice s1000xr! My friend has one of those bikes. Awesome ride!

How new is the bike? I would reccommend waiting at least 3 months before doing a review as that gives a good amount of time to learn about the bike and rpocess what works and what deosn't for you. It also gives you time to formulate what you want to say in the actual vlog. On the other hand though, an initial thoughts in a quick vid is also a great way to make content with a bit of a comparrison between what you thought when you first get the bike and when you have had it for a few months.

Another interesting idea is that when you think you are off, you may actually be making your most real, raw content. It might sound off or feel off for you, but may just be what resonates with people because it is real.

Editing is your friend, maybe even your best friend. Don't be afraid to stop talking, take a moment and continue or even start over. A jump in the footage is accepted by the audience easily as it is the norm in all videos on youtube. This idea that the thought has to flow perfectly with no cuts is not realistic outside of a well rehearsed script with months of planning.

re yammie Noob

Same. I unsubbed after I watched a few videos with advice I thought was sub-optimal, verging on dangerous. But that was quite some time ago.

As for bike reviews - I don't / generally won't do them either. I just don't ride that many other bikes, and don't see any point in doing a review unless I have had a good long ride in varying conditions and road types. There are so many people out there doing review like that better than I can.

The bike I will 'review' as I know it very well is my GSX1400.

I'll look forward to that!

One of the things I did plan on doing was a ride in other countries on hire bikes. I will probably give "soft thoughts" on the bike I am hiring along with what I think of riding in the country I am in. Other than that - I really dont want to get into too much depth on the bike I'll be on, thats not at all what I want the channel to be about. As you say - so many more channels out there doing bike reviews, why do they need another. Different bikes in different countries - thats something (well) different.

Just hope they lift Travel Restrictions soon so I can start up Business Travel Again!

I experienced this the other day. Early on in my ride I was doing fine, but as I continued out of my local(familiar) area I noticed I was pausing and saying umm a lot. I think maybe I was concentrating more on where I was going, than getting a vlog done.
