I have a thought for you guys

When you guys started riding motorcycles for a while and then hop back into a car. Do you guys feel that your awareness and driving abilities improve? And if so, which aspect improved?

For me, I felt like my awareness for my surrounding improved, I have never crashed or been in an accident while driving my car before so knock on wood:rolleyes:

Yeah, definitely. I try to be more predictable now, try to communicate more of what I'm going to do. And I check for motorcycles more, even though I always keep track of the cars around me I'll still check to make sure some motorcycle hasn't come up out of no where. I also find less need to drive like a hooligan since I get it all out with my motorcycle.

I tend to spot motorcycles quicker than any non-riders I may be in a car with. As far as other observations, I am not sure. I tend to get bored while driving. Plus I feel so isolated and then the A pillar is blocking a bit of my view while going through a turn.

So I guess riding in general makes me just a tad more observant while driving but only as far as spoting bikes and cops.

Being an advanced driver and having completed Police Emergency response and initial pursuit driving courses I like to think my observations are above standard but yes I think riding bikes does assist.

You definately pay more attention to drivers at junctions and on tighter sections of road.

Same here, my awareness for other riders while im driving went way up. I notice more ridiculous drivers too when I ride, gives me a better understanding of what to look for when Im driving in my car

I tend to drive to get somewhere or ride to enjoy the journey. I do enjoy driving, and have quite a nice car (IMO) but I don't tend to just go for a drive in the car with no direction which I often do on the bikes! :)

Hahaha... Best make sure you have clean undies for doing that... Everytime I go to do a U turn there always seems to be gravel patches.
