So I've been using Reddit to try and promote my channel. I've found nothing but salty trolls and negative people over there. They're labeling me as a douche for my videos.... I just think they don't have a sense of humor.

There's always going to be negative people out there, I don't focus on that. But I think I'm done trying to expand on Reddit. It's not worth the effort or the possible negative impact those people could have on my channel.

Where else do you guys promote your videos?

I recently got a ban on Reddit, it is a lot harder to make any progress on there, but all avenues are worth exploring. Maybe you are posting on the wrong groups on there?
I mainly use Facebook, I am on Twitter, but my presence on there is very small so it is quite ineffective, but is a good way to interact with folk that don't Facebook. I assume you are a member of any forums for your trike?

yeah I've been trying it for a while. I think I'm done with it for now. I'm on Instagram too. That seems to be going better. I think I'm going to try a more local approach in my city and see how that goes.
As far as the internet goes I would say Instagram is the best. After that would be forums for your bike or something specific like that. Then outside of the internet you can go to bike meets and group rides. And try to connect with other motovloggers.

Reddit has a bit of EVERYTHNG, almost as if there is a sub internet on Reddit. I've had good discussions about a lot of things, but motorcycles? Pah.

Hey, I just joined this forum as I just started moto vlogging. Not enough success yet to give any advice, but I am thinking the best way to promote is being active in real life. I plan to go to group and local events that will also make for interesting content. I think the internet is pretty tired of people spamming their social media accounts.. but if you are in a video that a guy you met or rode with in real life made you will definitely check it out.

Honestly if the content is something that catches on so will your channel. Just go look at Gas Works, he has been doing his channel for a short time and it has rocketed recently because his content is first class, he is appealing to a large audience with his topics, and he keeps repeating the success with another video that is similar but different. He was slowly rising to @400 subs till he dropped the video Are you too old to start riding? 37k views and now he is sitting at almost 2k subs in just a week of that video going live.

He is not doing the things that all of the youtube how to build your chanel people are saying to do.
His tags are short and very few, his descriptions are not very long (maybe a sentence or two), and he doesn't seem to engage his comment section other than to reply to a few and heart most. This is defying the "experts" so called keys to success.

Basically, we can promote the content all we want but if the content is not appealing they click, watch 30 seconds and leave, never to return. Don't worry too much about subs at this point, find a style that you can live with and perfect your editing and vlogging. None of us are millionaires on YouTube so I am sure we all still have much to learn.

I just checked out his channel. From my point of view he is doing what everyone else is doing. Same topics, same custom thumbnails..etc.etc.. It's really all about getting noticed and having that one video that draws the people in.

I need to look into the custom thumbnails, I honestly haven't had the time to bother with it yet.

He responded to my latest video and gave me some tips on how he did it. Honestly I don't think I want to grow my channel that way because then I am not being myself. My content will get better but I want to share myself with the people that watch my videos, my feelings and my honest opinions. If I remove that now and just make videos that will get tons of clicks to grow fast the subs will be there because of those videos, and then will they want to watch the others? Prob not.
Quite honestly getting 35k views would be great but to answer all of those comments would be a nightmare! I am not in this for money, not saying that making some wouldn't be great to pay for new cameras and the like. Just have fun with it.

If you are looking to make money and be your full time job his model is working.

*edit: TubeBuddy can help with thumbnails. There are also free options like photoshop, J Christina on youtube has a few videos where he goes into the free and paid options. He cut the cord on Adobe and tok everyone through the process and the programs he found. Worth a view if you are looking for that type of program. If anyone is interested I can post a link to his channel or videos.

NAILED ON. The experts from TubeBuddy and the pro tube types, talk some sense but it doesn't necessarily work. I stick to the rules and am constantly changing things up and searching for the best way to produce my content, I'm getting there but like you say, I think it's the actual content that counts. 5000 letter descriptions and accurate tags don't do it (for me). I'm experimenting with TAGS and whatever I change up makes no difference whatsoever.

I post on two sub-reddits and thats all. I've gotten a few good responses and not many trolls cause they are small groups. Forums like this help a lot and I am very grateful. Trolls will be trolls. Best to ignore them and move on. You shouldn't waste your breath on them.

I've had a relatively good experience recently when posting to Reddit, even the comments from Redditors was pretty good. In terms of views and that, it made a difference but only for 20 hours and then traffic returned to normal.
