What is the most common touring bike you see in your area and where are you?

BMW GS, they're everywhere, also Yamaha Tracer 900 is pretty common. I want one myself.

It's just so different than in the us. Here it's Harley, Harley, Harley, goldwing. Rinse and repeat.

Aye, but your roads suit a cruiser more than the roads in Europe, we have far smaller roads that are often very twisty so a more maneuverable bike is required. Also the dealer network is better here for European manufacturers whereas in the USA you have more Harley dealerships. Isn't the Honda Goldwing also built in the USA?

Hard to say, few new bikes move around, most are older. I thing big BMW's,Honda Varadero and Yamaha TDM are most common.

Two top selling here in Australia are the DR650 and the Africa Twin.

Never seen a DR anywhere other than the dealership.

Guy at one of my suppliers has a Africa Twin, thats about the only one I've ever seen.

I would like to have a Africa Twin, but I think adding another bike to the fleet might not be a good idea at the moment.

Big BMWs and Triumphs around me

I was actually thinking about this earlier in the week.

There is not much to choose between the GS, Multistrads, Triumphs and Tracers but I would say the Tracer, in all its forms, wins out.

I see less of the KTM Adventures, Kawasaki Versys and Crosstourers.

No cruiser type bikes at all? Wow!

But cruisers are not good off road, and if you really want to travel, you will need to go off tarmac.

Here in the us you can get basically any where by a paved road. So we travel long distance in much more comfort. But I do see your point. And I agree.

Goldwings used to be made in Ohio but they have since gone back to Japan

I didn't realise Goldwings were ever made in the US, but it makes sense I guess. It is a massive bike and also more suitable for the US highways. The new Goldwing looks incedible but what a beast!
