On the road you certainly don't "need" to hang off but when making progress, anything that increases the tyre contact patch with the road is a good thing so hanging off can help. It can look quite silly but in the wet it is even more important to do so as gives you far more correction leeway if you slide

LOL. I remember seeing a video ages ago of a guy posing on track, dragging knee, then all these 50cc scooters came into the scene to overtake..

I got a petty sweet shot from last weekends ride. We set up some cameras on a corner and we all did some passes. I got my knee down in both directions.

I did once.

Cocked up a U turn. 64 degrees about the angle of my bike on the crash wings...

I've noticed on a few photos from a recent track day that my centre stand got close to the ground. I'm worried about it catching and causing the back wheel would skip out.

Think I should remove it before the next track day?

It should be your hero blobs that ground first and are there as a warning that you're at the designed limit of the bike.

Your manual will state a wear amount at which you shout replace them.

Got offered a challenge of doing a U turn on a steep sideslope earlier.

I declined.
