Has anyone dealt with them before? I received an email as below. I've checked out their website. Not sure what to make of this. Comments and feedback welcomed.

Hello!
My name is Grant and I'm a video buyer at Network of One, a YouTube licensing company that discovers, verifies, and manages the world’s leading content.
Our research team came across your videos and would love to offer you $2200.00 USD for a selection of them.
In exchange for the payment, we'd like to run our approved, content friendly Google advertisements on these particular videos. The ads are a mixture of skippable ads to transparent ads that appear in the lower 20% of a video. Your channel will remain independent and the agreement would not affect the other videos on your channel, or any future uploads.
If you'd like to chat further, please let me know. We'd love to work with a channel as impressive as yours.
Respectfully

Grant Harris

You might want to do your math before accepting.

This guy is at least for the most part legit due to the use of a domain name in the email address.

The issue here is. 2.2k for WHICH videos. Do remember that after signing them over, you no longer are allowed to monetize them, all ad revenue for those videos will belong to them.

So you have to balance whether 2.2k in payout is at least 50% more than what you would earn in ad revenue from those videos combined over the course of it's ENTIRE life.

The way I see it, with your current level of views, this arrangement will benefit them more than it will you.

In fact, I believe you will stand to lose out more as the video stays on Youtube longer.

How quickly could you make $2200 off your vids?

If it would take you a while, why can he make so much more that he's prepared to offer that amount of money off them as he'd need to make much more than that do make money himself.

No doubt professional marketing will increase revenue, but even so, that seems to be a large amount of money.

Sounds a bit fishy.

Might wanna make a little bit more contact with him before making your decision.

USD$2200 seems a lot to me, for someone to give at one go.

Thanks everyone for your input on this, I do believe I can make that amount in a fair bit of time and it's true that it will continue to generate revenue on and on for as long as there are the views on it.

Just wanted to prod your brains a bit and see what's your take on this.

I highly doubt I will be signing up with them, I was just intrigue because they list Machinima as part of their network.

Machinima? That's surprising.

Machinima produces content on Youtube as a livelihood. All of them do this as a full time job. If their channels ever get taken down via a copyright strike, they stand to lose their livelihoods.

Such big Youtubers don't mind losing pocket change in revenue to networks in exchange for the networks taking all the copyright hits for them, since they just make content for the network and the network pays them for it instead of dealing directly with Youtube.

That sounds cool! O.O Like some kind of evil master mind plan to rule the world.

sounds interesting, to be fair.

I got contacted by voostation.com to become youtube partners with them, but at no point did they offer me money.

make sure to read the contact and make sure that there are no ambiguous lines in there.

Also, send me some of that 2200 just because why not?

Similar thing happened on a friends viral video, they accepted and was contacted by daily mail/ ladbible etc to pay for featuring it with figures that would of been more of what they sold 70% of rights for.

It's a hit or miss market, either they'll make a lot of money with your content or they won't. But only you can say what would work out better as you know what you're making now.

[ UPDATE ]

Well they've now came up with an offer of USD 2,750 (holy shiatz!) for four videos, and I've been reading through their FAQs, apparently they just want the rights to post ads on the video and the channel and video rights still belong to the channel owner. Screen shots of the FAQs attached. Tempting, tempting, tempting.

What do you guys think now?

If it was my channel, Would sell it for half that.

Then start a new one.
But in this case, Probably avoid the buggers

If you were to sell your channel. And there was a non-compete clause in the contract. Would you be able to start a new channel?

One thing to consider is that you're tuning over advertising on your channel to a third party. If they slam those four videos with ads it may affect your subscribers and ultimately you in the long run.

Hell, for 4 videos' work only as well.

I earn less for working 30 days, 9 hours a day.

Man, I wish I could grow my channel to at least a thousand so i can at least take more days off this dead beat job and do something I actually like.

Do what you feel is right man, the fact you get to keep the actual rights to them is a bonus.

The videos they're interested in are (to me) just some regular/normal stuff like exhaust sounds/test like etc.

Maybe I will schedule a chat with these guys and see what's it all about. Still welcome any comment or feedback from you guys though.

They probably think that's a group of 4 that would draw a high volume of audiences, so they can make the most return with it. Have they sent you a contract? If so buddy, I don't know what's available in the USA similar to the UK's citizen advice. Maybe run it past a contract lawyer?
