Possible Youtube Scam...definitely Spam

If you can take it, take it twice
Has anyone else found this in their spam folder? This is the third time in less than two months they sent me these copy and pasted messages. The channel has been around for almost three years and claims to be "the fastest growing Automotive Multi-Channel Network" yet they only have 345 subs and two videos that are 2 years old. I'm not quite sure what to make of it but I'm not going to reply to them.

It's the network Chaseontwowheels and Motonosity use, for what it's worth.

You will be tied into a 3 year 70/30 split contract though.
I figured that's what it was. Not like I make any money through YouTube anyway. They ain't gettin shit from me.

Been getting these messages as well and I was wondering what other people thought too! Thanks for posting to start the discussion.

Maybe they focus on other platforms instead of on YouTube, anyways, if they were really scamming their account would have probably been reported and shut down long ago instead of running on for 3 years.

Received lots of such messages and emails from Networks, but since I am not interested, I didn't pursue it to find out more. I believe a few fellas here may have dabbled with Networks, they can share their experience.

After some Google searching, it looks like they're legit, but it just seems weird that their YouTube channel is so small.

I didn't even think to Google them before posting this.

A network doesn't mean they create content, just publicise their partner content do drive revenue, and that's probably better achieved by other means.

It seems legit (not a scam) but from what you guys are saying it seems like you get a very poor 'deal' out of it. I'd rather take my chances with self promotion than to have a rep take a cut of it, if I'm doing all the hard work.

I was to be hooked up with an "MCN" (multi-channel network), initiated by a TV network here in our country. To justify their 70% cut, they had "teams" focusing on promoting me.

They hooked me up, and their "keyword optimization team" replaced my tags with "motor exhibition" and other very generic terms (they just knew I did stunts), so that same day I called I said "Nope"

It just seemed really shady how the messages appear to be pre-made and they just copy and paste them. To me, that's very unprofessional. If you want someone to join your network, the least you can do is send a personal message. Either way, I'm not into it so I won't be responding to them. It would be nice to make money, but my channel is small and I can't make videos year round due to the shitty weather we get where I live.

After what some folks said on here and a little searching, I found out they are legit but it's not for me.

70%??? Wow that's messed up. Sounds like you did the right thing.

It's a 70/30 split in the creator's favour.

They start telling you what to vlog about, how many vids to push out etc.
Dont sign up with those types

They recommend a minimum number of videos (1 per month on average, so 12 a year) but there is no requirement, and they do not influence the topics of the vlogs.

Don't get me wrong, I don't recommend them at all but it's important to get the facts right.

I've been with one for a year and I thoroughly read the GTChannel contract when they reached out to me.

They were surprised/impressed that I read the contract and had questions for them as most people don't.
