New To Google Adsense Question!

Ramblin'

Ramblin'Rider on YT
Hey everyone!

I am a few months into vlogging and still have a very small footprint (Under 50 subs). However, I am up to over 2000 views and wanted to try out and see how adsense worked! I read that any views before adsense is set up and linked to YT don't count towards adsense revenue. Granted we are talking pennies or or pence (?) for you UK folks ;) I still wanted to make sure I had it set up in case I do a video that does exceptionally well!

Unfortunately, by my calculations I should be rolling in under a dollar worth of change lol but it still states $0 total.

Can someone explain whats going on? As I understand it you can't get paid in the States until you reach $100 but I thought I should have something to show by now - even if it was $0.15

I have confirmed it is linked to my YT and have monetized videos activated and videos that are eligible chosen but at a loss...

Also my RPM's are always super low compared to what I have heard are the averages - but I am still not even 100% clear on those. Even though I have read the definitions lol

Note: I am not in this for the money but I would like to focus on my channel as if it will become something that makes something - even if it never does - but I figured while I am having fun riding and making content I could at least make enough to fill my bikes fuel tank every once in a while! lol

Let me know what you think please please please! And if anyone else is new to Adsense, feel free to use this as a place to post your questions as well :)

Thanks!!

"The Adsense account you associated is now approved" That is how I confirmed it is linked btw. Any ideas!?

I have found that report not to show my banner ad earnings.

Go to performance reports>Common reports>Products>Hosted Adsense for Content

and it will show you your earnings for banner ad clicks.

You will see this (note theive off google - not my earnings)

Otherwise your video ad revenue is shown on Youtube analytics and is paid to the adsense account approx 15th of the following month.

It will be a while before my first payout - but I am having fun regardless :)

You are awesome man! Thanks for takin' the time to explain that! Now I know where to look to watch it slowly creep to the min amount for payout and then drinks are on me! (If you ever come to South Carolina, USA) lol

Much appreciated!

O, Also, is there any way to increase your Adsense RPM? mine seems low on avg so far...

Any other sources to study up on the business side of things?

Thanks again!

No worries. Ill hit you up if I find myself all the way over there lol. To increase RPM, you kind of can but can't. Only real way to increase it is to make great content that gets lots of views. If you are displaying ads elsewhere such as a website you should opt in for all types of ads, text and image to open up the possibility for more ads shown and pricing. Then also you could just choose the most popular ad sizes, as the bigger competitors that spend bigger advertising dollars will use these sizes more commonly.
The sizes are -
  • Leaderboard (728×90)
  • Large Rectangle (336×280)
  • Medium Rectangle (300×250)
  • Wide Skyscraper (160×600)
But basically, the more views you are getting the more you will get paid. Google have said the average RPM is $1, so if you get 1000 views for the month you could expect to earn $1. Then they keep our measly earnings until we finally accrue $100 or so. It takes a lot to earn some big $. The only real winners with adsense are google.

Yeah I haven't earned anything either, but I don't think any of my two-dozen viewers would actually click on any ads or anything. I suspect it takes a looooooong time for the smaller people to scrape together enough for a pay-out

Yeah. Its a long haul but its better in our pocket then Google in the long run.

Exactly! So far I have made enough for a gallon of gas - that is plenty to get excited about hehe - riding my bike and filming it is hopefully gonna pay for the gas to ride eventually - those r my only current goals ;) lol

If you are not sure how to go about raking in more $$$, or just chilling and putting videos because you like to, having Adsense isn't that bad, it's like a side benefit you get while just doing your own thing.

Once you have grown or you've found out how to rake in the $$$, you can set off on that path. Or sometimes Networks start approaching you claiming to be able to super increase what you're currently getting and stuff. This I have no idea on, never had an interest to join these Networks.

I have a video that went semi-viral and it's made me a couple hundred dollars now. Most of the time it's just pennies, but one good vid can make you a few extra bucks which is cool. It's like someone else said. You can sometimes make money for doing whatever it is you are already doing for fun.

I've made way more in free stuff than I have with AdSense.
