No Videos For A While...

So last Sat. I got hit while out riding. I've been in the hospital and physical therapy since. I will be released home on Monday. I ended up with minor road rash, a minor brain bleed, 4 broken ribs and some amnesia despite wearing all the gear. I had my jeans cut off of me, my riding jacket is damaged and my helmet needs replacing.

I'm not sure yet if I'll be riding again (I'm sure I will) or when, but when I can I'll post videos to my channel.

Damn dude! Sounds like a really serious accident. I'm glad you made it out alive. Take your time getting back on the bike, no need to rush into it

@ride512 Get better, get new gear and get back on it! Sorry to hear you got hit. Good thing you had your jacket and helmet!

I've been asking this question lately: Looking back at what happened, is there a piece of gear or equipment that you think would have saved you from some of your injuries, or one that you will definitely buy before getting back out there again?

Not really as my injuries are pretty minor. The helmet and coat did their job. Not sure how I fractured my ribs or if any gear would have prevented it. My gloves mostly did their job except a quarter sized patch of road rash on my hand. All and all I'm pretty thankful for my gear and my resolve to always wear it.

I did end up with a very minor hear injury, a small subarachnoid hemorrhage, that should have no lasting effects on my brain.

The helmet did it's a job in a way I had never really thought about before... it protected my head/scalp from abrasion.

I spent a week in the hospital and a week in inpatient rehab ( a bit overkill IMO, but meh. ) It could have easily been so much worse.

The scooter has been totalled by the insurance agency. So I am now with out a ride. I think once I get back to driving I will get new gear and take the MSF course again then start looking for a motorcycle this time.

RIP...

Not the first time I've seen a helmet do that! I used to work at a Harley dealer and another injury I saw more than once was guys having their scalp stitched back on after their noggin connected with their windscreen. They wanted to be "cool" and ride in a do-rag instead of a helmet.

When @dandoolittle had his wreck on the track, he broke some ribs, too. He told me a chest protector would have helped so I'm looking into one. Maybe it's worth a try.
