You tube cut my monetization on one of my videos and it doesn't even have audio! It was a state park and I took a picture of a artsy sign for the park and I believe that's why they cut me.
I'd have to agree with you on the music not being the star of the video! What a ball ache this all sounds...guess you have to ask the question "Do I really need this Music to enhance my video ?"... I just use free stuff that kinda fits with the theme of the video, I want the video and not the popular music to be the main focus...
That's exactly what I did, 'good standing' so farturn off your money thing and they wont really bother you
I have no idea how they get away with it unless they pay. YouTube has some sort of algorithm that only needs to hear about 4-5 seconds of a song to figure out what it is, so it can't be that they just haven't been caught yet. I uploaded a video of a friend's band covering a Blues Traveler song, and YouTube thought it was really Blues Traveler. No copyright strike, but that just shows how sensitive it is.I'm very curious how some youtubers use very known songs for example do it with dan's intro sogn, since I also want to use some music that I can't put on my videos because otherwise it would get flagged....
Anyone knows?

But don't they have to give credit? I used a few songs from a copyright free site, and they said all you have to do is post the track's link in the description. I think giving the artist credit is the least someone can do. It only takes a few seconds to be like "music provided by blah from blah website."Monstercat has a subscription service to license tracks. IMO, it's a crap deal for artists unless the person making the video gives the song a plug in the video or description somewhere to ensure the artist gets credit.
There's so many copyright free music sites out there that it boggles my mind why someone would pay. That and making your own music isn't that hard if you have Garage Band, Stagelight or a million other programs. I guess it would make sense if your channel is making serious money and you want to use a well known song, but still that just seems like a waste.Yea you can buy licences but finding them is easier said than done at times.

Idea for next video: wear as much neon as possible, cut lines in my hair, cuff my acid washed jeans extra tight, film in 360p and rock out to some Vanilla Ice.All these programs have a lot of music but at the same time they're not exactly that good, it'd make your vlogs look like a 90's instructional video! A lot of people want high-quality instrumentals that don't give off that feel, but then yes, depends what you're doing I guess.
Used a popular song, YouTube told me it was ok to use it, but I wouldn't get ad revenue from it... Don't really care considering I only get 100 views, that's my experience with using songs.I'm very curious how some youtubers use very known songs for example do it with dan's intro sogn, since I also want to use some music that I can't put on my videos because otherwise it would get flagged....
