Video Storage

I keep the 'full quality' export of all my vlogs and then delete ALL the raw footage.

I've currently got 5 test rides, 2 workshop videos and a couple from my UK trip to edit so for the first time since my Euroseries im getting low on space!

I've taken to binning stuff if nothing happened at the end of the day. Rode from Glasgow to London and other than a torrential downpour at Grantham, nothing really happened so decided to save myself the time of copying it off and deleted it.

I often find it quite cathartic to simply select 'format' at the end of a ride. No copying. No editing. No need to even remove the camera from its case. Tidy.

I'm looking more into external as we speak. Footage is piling up and still hanging on to the stuff I actually use but deleting the stuff that doesn't make the cut. Is anyone worried about and external crashing and loosing all the footage?

Oh yeah I just have a single copy not an actual back up. I struggle where to invest my money at things like cameras and gear are sexy. At some point I need to save up and drop some cash on a large raid Network Attached Storage device or build something myself.

Everything goes on a 3TB external drive. I edit from there.
I have a 9TB NAS that I store movies and backups on, and I am considering backing up to there just in case the WD External decides to take a dive into the deep end. So that way I'll have a backup of all footage. I need to decide when to delete the raw footages as that takes up so much space.

I backup my VAX system to a 8mm tape deck, and my Sun E10K to a DLT tape library!
Eh, no...
o_O

Permanently fixed external 3TB, and 2 backup 500GBs

Will have to be less precious about footage, thinking I'll one day go back through some of it "just in case".
