Adhesive Mounts On Your Bike...

Anyone using them? I've been using the suction cup mount but it's very limited in where it'll fit on my Vespa and the only place on the handle bars to mount anything is the mirrors, which shake violently.

I'm thinking about biting the bullet and putting some adhesive mounts for my GoPro's on the scooter. Part of me is freaking out about it, but the other part of me knows they are pretty easy to get off using one of a half dozen methods that won't hurt my paint job.

Then the next question is do I put tether points on as well?

Yes and yes. The old hair dryer method is maybe the easiest for removal and definitely tethers unless you really want to upgrade that camera ;)
Shineesideup showed me his home made tethers made from fishing line leader - great idea, this and strong :)

I am thinking about putting some mounts on my bike as well. I just held off due to the concerns noted here. But, the bike is a 2002, the paint is good enough (matte black, the nastier it looks, the better it gets imho) so I think I will be doing it in the near future myself.

Awesome info! Thanks!

Yeah mine is only 4 months old, but I plan on keeping even after I buy a motorcycle in the spring. In fact someday I'd just like to have it painted matte black. Of course now I'm regretting buying a white scooter.

No problems removing GoPro pads from bodywork but I avoid tethering.

I'd rather lose a camera (never happened) than have a mini wrecking ball smashing into my bike.

I tried to mount my old contour on two different points on my bike and both suffered from a lot of vibration. Since I've switched to Drift products ive not yet tried because I use clip on mounts on my engine guard which work well with minimal minimal vibration.

i put a few mounts on my bike. get creative with it and you can get some pretty cool shots. my favorite is the mount on the side of my homemade saddlebags (made them from 50cal. ammo cans) it looks up the side of my bike so you can see my leg, right side of the bars and front wheel. its give a cool perspective when hanging off the right side in a corner or doing wheelies beings you can see how far the front wheel comes off the road. they can always be removed later.

Tried and tested on magnetic and plastic body parts of the bike, Hair dryer method or heat gun is enough and a little bit of precision

Use suction cup with tether, that is best practice. 3M ones are pretty solid, chances of damaging paint are there, the possibility of pulling part of the clear coat/paint when removing the adhesive, remove with care.

Yeah I always use tethers with the suction cup mount and I will use tethers with the adhesive mounts. Too be honest I'm not too worried about the paint. I'm more of a danger to the pain than the mounts. I keep scuffing my paint on a daily basis ::: facepalm ::::

Better be safe than sorry, use tethers. For 3M ones as long as the surface is clean and majority of the 3M contacts with the surface it should be just fine.

If you dont wanna use adhesive pads.. Last year some time i was rolling with my gopro on my passenger foot peg, Pointing backwards
It wasnt half bad
