What Makes An Intro/outro

Graneable

Hey ! Title is pretty precise !
I've been feeling that my videos needs an in and out because they begin and end very abruptly.
What are the key elements of an intro and an outro ?

Feel free to post your own as an example.

01 - Keep them short (under 3 seconds) for best result (so that people don't get annoyed having to see it on EVERY SINGLE VIDEO if it's too long)

02 - It can be anything you like, from a simple fade in/out (volume as well) to some ultra high tech super video graphic that might cause kids to have seizures. LoL.

03 - Key elements will usually be your logo/name/brand and some links to your social media(s), but it's up to you.

For an intro, please, please, please, please, PLEASE, keep it short (bXd, I'm looking at you). RJ's intro should be about the maximum length you should aim for. Keep it simple, just your logo fading in or over a short clip or something.

Outro gives you a little more freedom. Maybe overlay your social media links over a short clip that doesn't fit in the video anywhere. Or just cut to a screen with your logo and links. Or "sign off" after every vlog and overlay your links and sub button. If you're really fancy, have an outro screen with video inserts to older videos+sub button+social media links.

some i can watch if they are longer, if they are funny or catchy or exciting. Mine is too long, 10 seconds, but I will get around to changing it someday...someday. I did something different on my Pumpkin spice video I just put up... I'll see how it goes (hint, my vocals are a bit flat)

My Intro is just a photograph , I am still getting ideas from other vloggers to get a good intro and outro. I like what Wallterrific has done, may be some on that lines is what I would opt for.

My Intro is 10.1 seconds, but I overlay my titles (transparent PNGs) on the 10.1 seconds of riding footage right before I start talking riding.
I also have music playing in the background.

Having watched my videos over and over again while editing I don't feel like it's too long.

My intro is way long. It's about 18 seconds, but I fade it into the vlog. For an outro, I simply have en end screen where I link s subscribe button and some of my playlists. I plan on making a shorter one in the near future. I'll probably keep it at 10, so when I fade it in it will be only 7 or 8 seconds long. I actually don't mind a longer intro if it's interesting and the creator changes it up once in a while. BakerXderek has an insanely long intro and it's loud and raucous but for some reason a lot of his fans like it and will get cranky with him if they don't see the "Me Gusta" intro before his videos. He gets away with a lot of stuff that would torpedo me if I tried it. Just his personality and the atmosphere of his videos. He's actually my favorite of the "big" motovloggers. I like Walteriffic, too.

Just checked out your channel and it's far too long for my tastes.

I'm a fussy bugger though :p

Got another vlogger i follow, he has a 30second intro. Its not even motovlog related. WTF

People dont have time for that shit

My intro is super long compared to some of yours! My videos are episodic and I think the longer intro helps play into that. My outros tend to be longer, too. I include a preview of the next episode, a link to my website, and credit to whoever provided the music for the episode.
