Year Without A Motorcycle

Bike Chick
Ok, so it hasn't been quite a year since I stopped riding, but it was almost a year ago when I bought my BMW S1000...and I only rode it a handful of times last year before it sat for a while and I eventually sold it. My RC51 and Ninja went soon after.

So anyway, getting the itch to ride again. Want a 2008 or 2009 CBR1000. My question is - how do you guys make it through the dark times when you don't want to or can't ride? i always end up selling my bikes. Yo-yo motorcycling.

I sold my 2005 R1 when I had back surgery in 2011. Went through a bunch of motorcycles after I discovered I could actually ride a sport bike again. Sold the BMW when I realized it might be a ticking time bomb. I've always wanted a 08+ CBR so I figure it might be the one I stick with. I hope....

I feel ya sometimes! I took 7 years off due to rebuilding my marriage, building a business, adoption of our first two kiddos, building another business, and another one. Once I got back on this last time it was because I figured out that I really do love to ride, it is a stress relief, an escape from the craziness of life, and a way to meet new people. It has its proper place now whereas it was my identity before and I don't have to live up to friends expectations or pressure (I hung with speed freaks, stingers, and idiots... And I fit in very well with each!). Now, if I dont feel like gearing up, I'll take the car but that usually only happens when it's gonna rain or I spend a little extra time playing with the munchkins or helping the lovely Mrs get things situated before leaving for work.

I don't know if having a dream bike would persuade me to ride more or not, as I have what I can afford and my priorities dictate that I don't spend any more on a bike. But I hope to always have a bike available (Lord willing) until I can't ride anymore. So, I just suggest you step back for a minute and access if riding is a passion that fits into your time and life on a permanent basis. If it is, get your bike and just remember that it is something you enjoy even if you don't do it all the time!

For me, riding is a stress relief. I may be young but I went through a seriously dark time with alcohol. When I purchased my first bike and began to ride a lot of my troubles began to just melt away. I don't know your personal life but maybe sometimes you should just take off into the countryside. No phone, no camera, don't worry about vlogging. Just let your close ones know what you're doing and the general area you'll be in and go for couple of hours.

Going bikeless was very bad for me. I would spend hours in front of the laptop obsessing about motorcycles until I could get one again, at which point I could go back to a state of semi-normality

Sometimes im just not in the mood. then i remember how much easier life is on a bike.

Traffics a breeze, Weathers good, I get to see and experience alot more. That reminds me why i ride.

There are a couple moths a year that I cant ride due to snow. Then there is life and kids bla bla. I dont do well with not riding longer than a couple day.

I did not ride for 8 years... Being back on the horse sure feels nice! But I did car stuff instead, and I still do that. Just, my motorcycle is giving me a lot more joy!

I do car, jet ski, and offroad stuff...but I always seem to gravitate back to street bikes. I guess I like the freedom to ride when I want rather than wanting to ride and having nothing. The BMW was just too much money to just sit there while I figured out my life. I think if I can find a CBR for the right price I can get it for half the money and still have the performance I love. Going back to my Honda roots, my first motorcycle was a CBR929.

Been there, life is too complicated some times. I took 10 years off the dirt and came back 2 yrs ago. 5 years off the street and working on getting back to that as well since the weather is too nice in CA!

I started pedalling, just to and from work and not so much into weekends. The itch overcame me eventually and I got a Suzuki Katana 750, now I'm back to riding full time

This makes me sad ;(

Well, update for what it is worth. Decided against another literbike to sit and rot in the garage and am going with a Grom. My boyfriend just bought one and it's the pure fun I was looking for so I will be purchasing another hopefully next week. Bought an 2009 YFZ450r quad to get back to my dirt roots. Not a motorcycle, but still hella fast and I miss my 06 I used to ride. Haven't been able to ride it since I've been getting it's used maintenance items up to snuff...may get some riding in this weekend and vlogs to come.

Have a Feiyu wearable 3 axis gimbal for my GoPro on it's way. Looking forward to some offroad and street riding with that. Other people's footage looks pretty cool!

I have one of those. Watch out for all the little bugs it has.

Yup, I saw your videos with it stopping working, I haven't seen anyone else have those issues...but I haven't looked either.

Got a Grom! Just posted my first vlog with it this weekend :)
First vehicle I've ever bought new.
