A few years ago, younger stats were a LOT higher but its pretty hard for someone under 21 to ride anything thats mega fast now

58% of all accidents claims occur on 50-125cc motorcycles.
That's probably from commuting though.

I’ll find the stat but it’s often with a couple of miles of a home as well

I heard a stat a while back that most accidents happen either within 2 miles from home or work

I feel overconfidence or complacency comes into play. Even older/more experienced riders get complacent or over confident.

Folks generally feel safe in known environments. But ride someplace you have never been and the feeling of not knowing what's around the curve replaces the feeling we of familiarity we have at home from riding the same road hundreds of times.

It is truly a dangerous mode of transportation. No protection even with the best gear. Arms and legs get broken and ripped off when ejected from the bike.

And yet we all still continue to ride. Those that ride will continue to ride. The ones who crash either get up and go again or not. Same applies when we learn to walk as toddlers so there is no winning, just trying to minimize risk.

Now who wants to race me down the hall with these scissors?

Yep, I've heard the last few miles are the most likely for an accident to happen.
I think it's because we are on well known roads and relax our vigilance.
I try to consciously concentrate more.

I have also heard a stat that says the majority of fatal bike accidents are single vehicle but everyone blames other motorists for the most dangerous part of riding. At least here in the US, I will find the article and statistics.

I have not been able to find the article but i did find the stats from 2016. Ironically the article I read probably found a way to spin the facts to make it look like majority was single vehicle.

2016 55% were with a second vehicle and only 34% at intersections amazingly 72% were hit from the front. If anyone is interested I will link the data I found. It was really interesting to look at some of the statistics like the helmet seems to be 50% with and without.
