Rant What Would You Have Done?

This really got under my skin considering their buddy cut me off when staging after a fuel stop. Really, I thought these guys were too old to expect assigned seats, but maybe not . . .

I dont really know what I'm watching?

Great question. I could not figure out what they were doing.

I kept seeing the black bike come up on me either to over take in my lane or crawl into my hip pocket. Now these bikes are about 3-4 feet wide. American lanes are maybe 8 feet wide in the country if you are lucky.

We were told modified staggered formation with 2 second gap between you and the bike directly in front of you and 1 second gap between you and the bike diagonal to you.

This guy maybe was studying quantum physics? Not sure what he would have done if I dodged something.

In the UK we have an unwritten rule of z zag formation as well.

I'm guess you wasn't braking a lot then?

Not at all. We had just left the fuel station across that big concrete bridge. We had already ridden about 80 miles before we got there so the formation got shuffled. Being the chapter videographer/photographer - I move throughout the formation at stops to get different points of views and different folks on the dual cameras.

So no, no braking since the fuel stop yet.

Can't really tell if he's trying to pass you up or ride side by side. Either way, you stay in whatever order you roll out in, unless you're an enforcer or like you said a filming the ride etc. Some folks just don't got it for road formations. That's why practicing as a group is important. Is this a riding club you're in?

As for the question, I would have waved my hand at him telling him to back off. Do you know the common hand signals?

HOG, Harley Owners Group. They ride a lot but not all them attend all the rides.

Ah, yeah I have a friend that's in HOG. Never takes it seriously though.

Every chapter seems to be a bit different. This one loves long rides, just my style. Messages sense because more miles means more wear and maybe even bent to get new bikes.
