Hi all,

Attempting to edit my first vlog, which is focused on the reliability of Italian wiring... I know this isn't the place for editing 'talk', but any suggestions on mac friendly free editing software [macbook too old to run anything decent] wouldn't go a miss - until I upgrade and can invest in some decent software.

Annnnyyyyyywaaaaayyyy, was going through some footage I recorded over the weekend, when I happened upon a chat I had in a petrol station with the attendant - after filling up. He was really interested in the GoPro on my helmet and was asking lots of questions. However, it wasn't until I watched it back I realised that, leaving my helmet on the counter - putting stuff in my bag, he was staring gormlessly into the camera for what seemed like ages. It was fantastic footage. Reminded me of the Traffic Droid's 'Taxi Driver Suffes Metanoia after looking at Droid' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9qI5SWoApg&feature=plcp . If you haven't seen this already - it's awesome.

In wanting to get out on the bike this evening to make sure it's running okay [or, just for the hell of it!] I transferred some files from my full memory card and 'deleted' them from the SD card. HOWEVER...upon attempting to commence filming, whilst sat on the bike ready to go, it still showed 'FULL'. In light of this hinderance to my ride-erance I cleared the memory card but didn't realise that I had lost the aforementioned clip in the process - not having transferred it to my laptop!

I can't believe my foolishness!

So, back to the title, what video have you lost that you wish you hadn't?

I accidentally deleted 30gb of footage from my trip to Italy; specifically the best parts of Switzerland, Germany and the ride back home. I lost 3 or 4 vlogs as well as some brilliant riding footage on the best roads I've ever ridden, all because I thought I had a different sd card in my camera when I hit format.

Put me off using any camera for anything for a while. I'm still upset about it.

I had lost pretty awesome sprint run. Me on Hornet, my mate on CBR600rr and some other guy on some Kawasaki, probably Ninja. We barely went below 150kmh of speed. I swear I heard the fucking BEEP that indicates start of recording. Damn! But after then we concluded it's good I haven't recorded it. You know, what you can't see, doesn't hurt you :) That footage would might cause us pretty big problems.

I've had corrupted files with my Drift HD. I recorded some really cool stuff (or so I thought) during a trip to Florida. Got back home and realized most of the footage was corrupt. I had the same reaction. I stopped recording for a long time. I've just now recently started again after a few firmware updates and seeing that the camera seems to be working better but I've missed out on a lot of awesome ride footage just because I didn't even bother with recording.

I have had lots of issues with corrupted files as well on my Drift. Turned out it was just a bad battery from when I smashed my first camera. I also had a large corrupted file from that accident and looking for a fix for it was what brought me to this website in the first place! :D

I lost so much good footage that I thought I had captured until I got home and found out I had nothing. It is so disappointing. As I could not find my good battery, I was having to use the damaged one, which seemed OK at first but then got worse. I ended up buying another battery and then found my other one. So now I have two and will be taking both on rides with me just in case.

I ended up retrieving most of my corrupted file from when I smashed thanks to the help of senthx on this forum. I could not retrieve the point of impact unfortunately but I was able to look at my rhythm leading up to the crash and gain at least some insight into why I crashed. I actually just uploaded the retrieved footage from the damaged file the other day with a bit of a description of how I managed to retrieve the footage. http://youtu.be/48022Eox0js

Hopefully from now on I will not lose too much footage like I have in the past.

I have so many moments every day in my life that I wish were captured on camera that I really never feel bad about deleting anything that did get captured. The only thing I can recall ever losing accidentally was always related to the camera shutting off only moments before something epic happened. I've lost some very good wheelies to dead camera batteries and I lost an entire ride through a tight woods trail where I was chasing a teenager on a 2 stroke 125 dirt bike.... naturally I didn't keep up but I did pretty well until I crashed.

Mind you, none of that was ever captured... <sigh>

That kind of put my loss to shame. Also, didn't expect this to become a Drift bashing thread...but guess it validates the decision to get a GoPro - ignoring the fact that the 3 came out about a month later : /
