What Are Your Top 3 Reasons For Riding A Motorcycle?

If you were going to convince a buddy to get a motorcycle.
What would be your top 3 reasons why you ride a motorcycle?

1. There is no better drug than riding a bike
2. best bang for the buck in terms of power to weight ratio
3. building skills and technique to improve riding is a lifelong pursuit.

1. Reset - I am able to reset my head and state of mind.
2. Health - counter intuitive, I know, but riding a motorcycle and slinging 500# of steel for 12,000 miles in a year, I have increased my core strength and have lost weight. Some of that is as simple as getting off the fecking couch...
3. Meet new people and see new country. I have accomplished this and so much more this year.

1. Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul. Basically it's more fun to ride than drive.
2. It's the best option to deal with city traffic (jams) and parking problems.
3. It's a passion that not everyone has.

Generally I would not convince/influence any friends to become a biker unless I know already they have a real interest or passion to be one, because riding is dangerous, and I don't want to put them in danger if they are not up for it.

Oh yeah

I meant to say if they start to poke around and ask some questions about it.
I would have the "all riders understand the risk they assume discussion" too.

Then get into how awesome it is

Its my quiet time
Traffic doesnt happen to you anymore (I am legally allowed to split here)
you look like a badass, even on a vespa

Its the best fun you can have legally
Your mum wont like it
There is one for every one.

- Being part of the machine. My MX5(Miata) is close to this feeling. But shifting my weight doesn't do much to help get the car around the curve.
- The joy of using skills. As an artist I get this feeling all the time. But involving the body more is even better. Riding knowing the risks puts even more value on your skills as a rider.
- The sensation of speed. Not limited to head-on velocity, but also how I can get around quickly, particularly when cars can't go faster than the one in front of it in heavy traffic.

That said, I haven't been riding in years after I migrated from mopeds to cars. But these things are what pulls me towards riding instead of driving.

- The sense of freedom you get from riding is one only another rider can understand. Cars are such a bore.
- It's an ADDICTION, Riding feeds my habit ;)
- It's just mega fun.

Although I actually talked a friend into getting a bike about a month ago....hadn't even passed his CBT (to allow him to ride just a 125cc)... he was just moving the bike into the garage, it dropped and fell on him, he broke the biggest bone in his leg, nearly had it amputated had 3x 8 hour operations and now has 6 months off work for a job he only started 3 weeks prior to the accident. lol. Only he could have done that on a 125cc tbh rofl. anyone looking for an xr125? lol ^^

talk about an FML Moment....
Its probably the universe telling him. motorcycling aint for you buddy.

1.) Nothing in the world better to clear your mind
2.) An addiction
3.) To be one with the machine

Although 2 is a negative as well.

1: Its cold
2: you get smelly
3: I don't give a shit about the first 2 as am a biker and we all know why we ride. Like what BluePixel said :FREEDOM!

Struggling to narrow it down to 3 tbh haha..

1. That power response
2. No getting sweaty balls in traffic jams wasting life and riding time ;)
3. Freeeeedom

1. Emotional - Motorcycles evoke stong emotions. They make you feel alive with joy, fear, love. We are all here to live a thrilling life.
2. Power - Hard to beat the power to weight for the price.
3. Skill building - Motorcycling is a skill I can build on for the rest of my life. I hate bordom and you can always learn something new on a bike whether it be balance, speed, turning, mindset...list goes on and on.

Just started riding for the first time 3 months ago back in 9/2015

1. Freedom - The ability to just get up and go (and go quickly)
2. Entertainment - I have never had a better time than I have on my motorcycle and a $9 to fill my tank I cant complain (2 months 3k miles)
3. Quality Of Life - I have never been more happy or satisfied with my life or myself as I have been the last few months
(which is why my bike being down since mid December has almost killed me, looking at CBR600RR tomorrow finger crossed)
