Tomorrow, I'm going to look at a second hand Honda XR 250. Thinking very seriously of buying it. New mot apparantley, with road legal knobbly tyres.

I want a bike for riding green lanes, and it's in my price range. About 10 days ago I went to Off Road school, which included some green laning.

Anyone ridden an XR 250?

I used to have a xr 125, was a nice bike good riding position very upright and forgiving. I haven't tried the 250 but I would guess they arent too different. Never got round to green lanes and that but generally nice and comfortable.

My first bike was a XR250L. Great bike, bullet proof engine. Here, check this out... mute the video, god that shit is awful.

SOLID ABUSABLE ENGINE

RELIABLE FRAME/ SUSPENSION

pretty decent power for a air cooled 250 4 stroke.

Downside:

little sluggish when you weight it against a new model bike - But if u ride it in the rev range they go well.

air cooled.

Id actually buy another xr400 if i had the chance

i miss my Dr350 thats suzukis version of that bike.

I just bought it. It's being delivered next week

Ive looked at a couple of their bikes on biketrader, what are they like to deal with? like a lot of their bikes but would be a trek for me so dont want to waste time going up there :P also that bike looks scarely alot like the Scrambler off GTA4......

Well, it was delivered today. Bought a lock, got some insurance, and off I went. Then back I went to the shop, cos I couldn't work the lock out. One end of the the chain is thinner and loops through the thicker bit, and the lock goes through one link not two.

Sometimes I can start it first time, sometimes it takes me a couple of minutes. I read online someplace, six kicks witht he decrompession lever in, then one big kick without it, seems to work mostly.

Very odd riding something so agricultural with no mirrors or indicators around town. Felt very strange on those knobbly tyres on tarmac. Think I'll stick a single mirror on the right hand side.

The hand guards are cracked, and they don't have metal bars, but I have nearly new set kicking around that does, they didn't fit the vanvan properly, offered them up and they look like they should fit, so probably put them on soon.

I got stuck in the mud in the middle picture, cos I stalled it.

and then of course I couldn't start it  so I huffed and I puffed, and then I sat down under a tree and thought what a nice day, then had another go and started first time.
