Vlog Fails

I was testing out a new camera rig, complete with a really expensive gimbal, on location at an old abandoned military base in the middle of the night. I didn't lock the gimbal in place and heard nearly $1,000 in gear hit the pavement at 10 mph. I had to disassemble the rig in the dark before heading home. I don't know if I was more terrified about nearly breaking everything or being alone in the middle of nowhere.

*being alone in the middle of nowhere with $1000 worth of gear exactly put you at ease..

Was the gear okay? D:

Heheh, it seems like we've all has our fair share of fails. Let's hope they don't get any worse

Everything was okay! Dinged up a tiny bit, but still works fine. No more fails!

Better that you dropped $1000 worth of gear in the middle of nowhere than in the middle of the city with a million prying eyes around! That shizz would be gone in half a U-turn!

I once forgot to strap my helmet while I had my GoPro attached to the side of the helmet. Jumped on the freeway right away and the drag from the camera spun my helmet around enough to remove my left-hand peripheral vision before I could find a safe place to pull over and rectify the situation.

Wifey tried her first solo vlog while I was on tour. she decided to go to the cinema and record the ride there and back. She got the red/green Drift led indicator thing back to front - recorded neither of the rides but the sound of the entire movie from her handbag o_O

Oooh, I've been there. Seems like all the best vlogs and rants are the ones where the technology fails and we don't get to upload them :-/

I've thrown out, lost, and ruined many motovlogs. The best thing to do is just forget about it and try again.

The whole microphone off thing happened to me yesterday. During the ride it seemed everything lined up perfectly and felt organic: comedy, transitions, cars cutting me off. It just seemed like everything was perfect. When I got to my destination I pulled off my helmet and went to turn everything off and noticed the switch was already off. I didn't believe it and thought maybe I knocked it while taking off my helmet so I loaded it up, but no audio. Heartbreaking.

I've missed a number of awesome moments from not being able to operate a camera properly! Had to redo a vlog on Sunday, as I hit record twice, so it got about a second of footage on an hour long ride!

After the first 10 minutes I pulled over to change a few settings around and the Sony had completely fogged up in the lens!! NOT a great way to showcase high quality video!!
Tape one of those tiny anti-moisture packets on the side-inside of the waterproof housing of the Sony case (the kind you sometimes find in boxes or food)... that's supposed to keep the moisture out - I haven't tested it yet, though, haven't needed to yet :p ~.....

Couple of weeks back a cop stopped behind me just fro asking couple of questions about my bike, dirt riding etc. My camera was recording that conversation and I was thinking about a new episode of From Russian With Love and... I deleted the video. I don't know how it happened, but I did it. That's biggest bummer so far

+1 Wolfxandxcrow: My GoPro battery died and I was doing a bike review for my new vid and didn't get any of the audio. Lucky I shot it with my dslr. I felt like an ass walking around outside with my helmet on doing a voice over, but that was the only way I could think to make it sound some what authentic.
