Well, title says it all.
But as people are curious about the x3 I decided to film a unboxing.

So far the filming has been limited to 3 rides, but more will follow.

Does the 3x have the ability to change from portrait to landscape on the fly or does it have to be set up that way or when editing?

His video at the end is showing portrait and not wide screen. So I was wondering if that was a setting on the camera or was something done in edit?

On the X2 there was an OSD button to switch from landscape to portrait regardless of how the camera was mounted. I would expect the X3 having the same button.

The video at the end was edited and rendered through the phone app.
I assume that is the reason why it is in portrait, as it films 360, so it should be able to render in landscape as well.

I'm planning on editing some on the pc today.

On the desktop software if you've been filming in 360 mode then you can choose the aspect ratio 16:9 (landscape) or 9:16 (portrait).

I really like the X3, unfortunalely its just not enough of an upgrade IMHO to convince me to move up from my X2. The X2 is just so good!

It is my first, so an upgrade from zero

I like it so far, although I already had to get extra storage and my pc is having trouble rendering it all while editing
But a new pc was something planned for this year anyways

exactly my thoughts, whilst the X3 is good just not enough for me to upgrade from my X2, I'll wait until the X4 comes out then see if its worth the upgrade...

lol.. I had this exact same issue when I bought my X2, my old laptop just wasn't powerful enough to handle the 360 files, good excuse for an upgrade, I bought an Asus ROG Zephyrus gaming laptop as needed to be portable, Ryzen 9, 32Gig Ram, 1 TB SSD etc etc, this was a few years ago now but laptop still working fine for 360 footage and all my editing needs.
