Un-Views

Not sure if this is a thing with Youtube, or just my channel, but I get big delays between my view counts for a current video. Over a 24 hour period the count on my main page was at 119 views, but if I went to the posted video it was up to 167 views (I know, nothing viral but I'm happy any views alone).

It finally changed over late yesterday, even though the current count on the video page was up to 175. Now for some reason the main page is at 167 views, but the video page is down to 165.
How do you lose views? Has anyone seen this before?

Confused and alarmed.

Perhaps the algorithms have different ways to count? For example, one might be counting if there is a click but playing is not more than a few seconds. Another might be tracking external views and then a third does the final count.

Either that or YouTube is just messing with us small folks again trying to keep us down...

I too have noticed some oddities, but haven’t really given it much thought until now. I suppose it only really matters (and is noticeable) by us small folks.

I have a feeling it is the algorithm. I have links on a few forum and social medial sites so that would make sense if it does create confusions. The number's back up to 175 on the main page and 170 on the video. Thanks for the explanations.

It all depends on where your looking too.
If you look at something like social blade it shows all sorts of weird stuff. Some days I have negative views on that one.

I normally just wait a few days and look then once it’s settled down a bit.

I beleive the discrepancy is the one on the video itself (the larger number) is just clicks on the video and the one showing from your page is views of atleast 30 seconds or whatever (the views that would count if your monetized)

I think I read somewhere that when a video is first posted it counts each time you load it as a view but it eventually becomes more accurate as it surpasses say around 200 views. When the video is new, you might notice that each time you refresh your video, the view count inside the video goes up but the number of views on your channel stays the same. After a couple hundred it sorts itself out

It is the algo...
As Youtube is very picky about the views which were sold at a price, they made many changes on the algorithm. There were many artists (!) who had millions of views, but in real %95 of the views were fake.

That can fairly discouraging. Hope its not as bad for us little guys.

Is it not the projected views it thinks it will recieve in a period of time?

I know youtube analytics app has projected after you have first uploaded a video..

Gives me a forecast view as well as actual.
