Too Much Scrolling...

Hey I'm new around here, and been reading a lot of forum posts.

Just a suggestion: I find design wise for the forums, it's a lot of scrolling down while reading posts. It takes a long time to read a page of postings because there's a lot of space in each post 'box' if you know what I'm trying to say.

Just wondering if you guys could consider less wasted space between people's posts so more can be read on one screen.
Thanks for reading!

Do you mean you think the personal info boxes with the avatar in are too big for short one line posts?

Get a smaller screen.

. I'm not sure what you're saying but I'm presuming you've blocked adverts so you're seeing blank blocks.

This won't be changing

yeah i guess this would help (slightly smaller avatar would make for a less tall box for each person's post)

I'm not sure if it's because it's just text and there's no emotion with texting, but your reply comes off a little rude. I was just making a polite forum suggestion in the "feedback" area of the forum. I do see the adverts and the high volume of advertising (inbetween each post) seems a little intrusive to reading the forum as well. Maybe right hand sided adverts or bottom of website page to have larger ones could be a suggestion.

That's fine if nothing changes, just thought this feedback area of the forum was for 'stuff like this'.

There's also no edit option or delete option once you post something, so if you would like, can just delete this thread completely.

There is a short delay for editing. It's about 5 minutes. I have disabled deletion of threads by users for a few reasons.

If you need something editing and the edit window has vanished, feel free to drop me a PM if you need something editing. Now I'm back on the computer I'm able to remind myself how the boxes on the left look. This forum allows quite a generous avatar which is the bulk of the space to the left of a post. Double edged sword really, too many forum have microscopic avatars which makes trying to see what it is a nightmare, and almost pointless unless you have something basic. I quite like that we can post photos of our bikes, or a group of bikes and still be able to make out enough of the detail.

As for the ads, I understand that ad size and placement is always going to be contentious, but it's what allows a lot of the free-to-use-internet remain free-to-use as ISPs and hosting companies don't give their services away for free.

You can block the avatars if you're using something like AdBlock, but I don't find them to be a problem and they add some personality to the otherwise bleak colour scheme :p
