Tips for Youtube Tags

Wondering what you guys do in the way of tags for your videos and any tips you can give. I saw a video once where they basically just suggested you use every variation of your video title and subject matter.

So it basically suggested if my video was about Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 - Ride
I would tag like this perhaps....aprilia, aprilia dorsoduro, aprilia dorsoduro 1200, dorsoduro 1200, motorbike ride, ride, motard, hyper motard, maxi motard etc etc etc.

What are your thoughts?

As far as I'm aware, no repeats are necessary, so aprilia, dorsoduro, 1200, (include commas so each word is seperate) is fine. You can set the basic tags you always want to use as defaults, so you don't have to type them for every video.

I'm pretty lazy with my tags. I've done a heap in the basics, like bike I ride and camera I use in the defaults. Set and forget really. But you can do things like topic of discussion, things you see out and about, and all that fun stuff.

So if you wanted to rage your camera type, mine is the regular Ghost, having Drift, Ghost, HD would cover all bases without needing to go for Drift Ghost, Drift Ghost HD?

Just note that YouTube ignores tags once it knows the content of your videos.

It knows this through comments, how long people watch your video for after finding it in searches, what videos people were watching before following a recommendation to your video etc.

In summary: it makes little difference other than for your first few views.
