Time Laps

(I tried a quick search but didn't find anything)

Anyone have any tips? I tried a static time laps at work yesterday and got a neat video but what about when driving?

Is there a way to increase the exposure on a time laps vid on the go-pro hero 5 black to give a trace effect (LSD stylee)? Would like to make a short clip at night with car lights and street lights etc leaving traces if that makes sense?

You will have a hard time getting that out of a time lapse. To get that trail of light you need a long exposure shot and during timelapse you are getting quick burst shots.

Closest you be able to get is to lower your frame rate down to 24fps or 30fps and record a video riding at night then speed the video up in post. It'll give you a little bit of that blur effect and you can always add some gaussian blur to improve that look. Proper editing will be your friend to get what you want.

I’ve take a time lapse clip and duplicated it in the timeline. Next, I off-set the clips by a half second or more. You can play with the under layer by lowering its opacity or playing with blending modes with the top layer as well.

I’ve been meaning to ask a former student of mine, who is more of a photographer, how he’s done long exposures in digital film. If I learn anything I’ll pass it on here.
