Thumbnails

So I've noticed a couple of bloggers lately making their own thumbnails such as OoxTruExoO and was wondering how this is done? Is it just those that are partners (?) or is there another trick as I've seen someone else doing and they only have 40 subs?

Need to be a partner... OR strategically place the thumbnail in the correct places in your video for youtube to pick it up... near impossible though

Yeah, I only recently got the option. Been waiting on it for ages. Thankfully it coincided with the start of the CATER series.

Crackn81 also got the option, about a week before I did. So I don't know what the criteria is. He has a lot more subs, and a lot more video views than I do, so it makes no sense to me. As far as I understand it now, so long as you are monetising at least one video, they consider you a partner. And you get things unlocked over time. I still don't have the custom button above the video option (like extreme601 has).

I don't really think the 'partner' term even applies anymore. It seems to me that pretty much anyone can monetize videos so long as they go through the process to get it set up.

That said, everyone I know (including myself) who can monetize vids is also now able to upload custom thumbnails. I think YT was keeping that ability to a certain group until they had more server space or something...there was a flood of "can you do this?! I can!" crap going around FB a few weeks ago, so it's pretty much open to most people it seems.

Oh I've just had a look and you're right, even I can upload a customised thumbnail now! Well I never.

Yeah I was just speaking to my friend who has a channel... He can use custom thumbnails now... I cant on my other channel though :S

Yea got the option for it now too. Give me something to do in Photoshop when bored at work now
