thoughts on the new skully helmet?

i only noticed threads talking about how people wanted the helmet for themselves, i wanted to share words about what everyone thinks about the new skully helmet. theres a new video out showing that the helmet has e-tint visor ( gets smoked at the push of a button ) and the gps shows your true speed on it. these were things i wasnt aware of. and with all that in mind i dont think $1500 usd is bad price for it, i was expecting $2300+ to be honest but theres alot of people complaining about the price comparing it to regular helmets. just wondering what you guys thought about the idea and priceing as a whole.

Waste of money and a gimmick in my opinion

I loved the idea at first but its putting too many eggs in one basket, what happens if you drop it?

article says its a shell from a company that makes them for name brands, so it starts as a normal helmet then modified and the fin is designed to come off on impact so that part of your helmet wont grab something and pull your head in any direction also dot approved

Im still waiting for sharp to test it and see what its like for that, but i agreee over expensive gimmick its not needed, just a fancy way to spend a couple grand

Imagine if you dropped it
Have you ever seen anyone using a helmet specific intercom? No, they buy ones that clip on, even though they don't look as good. Someone will come out with a helmet add-on which does all the same stuff as the skully, but you can take it off or attach it to another helmet. And it will cost 1/3 the price.
Watching the video which showed the picture-in-picture of the rear view made it look very distracting. I prefer the idea of the Reevu where the rear view is not in your line of sight. You have to look up, but the road ahead is still in your vision.

As a programmer I'm interested in delving into the software development kit.
As a student I'm interested in seeing the price come down to affordable levels - I'm sure competition will help with this.
As a biker I'm interested in how it performs in Sharp test - I won't wear a lid without a 5 star Sharp rating.

It's early days yet, pre-order delivery dates aren't till 2015. I think it's the way of the future though and I fully expect to be wearing an augmented reality helmet soon. My current lid has four years life left on it, I should graduate in three, maybe my next lid will be AR.

I love the concept. I will not order a helmet without trying it on. I also dislike the price, but this is groundbreaking technology and I am waiting to see where this can go.

Too many promises, nothing reviewed yet, so much secrecy, and those dropped frames on the video.
They lost all credibility for me. You're showcasing a product to potential buyers, you're not supposed to lie or "omit frames" on the presentation video.

P. S anyone know how good it will be in a crash?
It depends on how much would you like having a piece of circuit board trough your brain.

For the price, it should have rocket boosters attached to it... Heck, I could even have a few Arai's for backup at that price when I would only have one Skully. O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D!

No buy, sorry ;) ~.....

It's a clever idea, But personally I ride to get away from all those gadgets and gizmos (I don't even have EFI!). But I can see the appeal, but the price is a major drawback.

Looks stupid. That display is distracting. And as for safety? Not having a rear view mirror or a self tinting visor hasn't put me In any danger. Good riders don't need that shit, bad riders would just get distracted.

To much in to small a place.
Bikers fall to often to have $1500 on their heads.

If the stuff was modular and replaceable etc.. yeah, But what happens in 2 years when the battery starts dying?

stupid waste of money.
wait for the Forcite to come into production late 2015 early 2016.
That looks like something out of a bad sci fi movie, speaking of which
