Think I Am Doing This Motovlog Wrong (help)

If two wrongs don't make a right, try three.
Hello,
Am i doing this all wrong? I don't know. Looking for advise. feels like i am hitting the road while running.
I did do motovlogs years ago and its hard to keep up these days (god i feel old) need advise i think the audio is killing my videos. Not got a go pro, Using an old school contour 1080P. It has no mic input, and is not willing to mod it to have one one. Is there any way to record better audio rather using a Phone and a some headphones that have mic to record vocals.

Here is one of my videos :(
Please comment. Feels like no comments on videos is worse than a bad comment. I always want to improve my videos :)

To me, the audio isn't all that bad?

But if it's the only means of communicating, your viewer will get bored (especially you don't cut out the minor pauses).
So either accompany your clips with on-screen texts, or cut out the minor pauses, or both.

That's just me, don't quote me I'm a beginner myself

A dedicated audio recorder is a decent option. And/or using a more dedicated clip-on microphone. Those phone headsets rarely do well as they are merely integrated in the speaker cable as a bonus. You may also be able to plug those proper mics into the phone and have it work. Said microphones cost almost nothing.

Sounds like you need to lower the sensitivity if you can.

I'd say the problem is those mics on headphones are designed to pick up your voice when its hanging half way down your chest not shoved in a helmet.

Those mics are probably the worst for this. They are more of an afterthought by the earphone makers to add convenience. Wiring up a dedicated mic into the helmet with a wind cover is going to get you as good of sound as you can expect. They dont have to be overly expensive, either. Heck, even something like a Sena (any that will handle BT, I just know Sena) com connected to the phone via BT and using an app like Tascam's will do the trick. The camera doesnt have to capture the audio. The one thing you get with motorcycle coms is the gear is meant to work and be audible from inside a helmet at speed.

If you are stuck with what you have for now, then get a cotton ball, pull it apart a bit so it isnt too thick, and then tape it to the mic (tape above and below, but not covering the mic hole itself. You will have to change it out a bit, but will give you some clearer sound and less outside noise.

Thanks guys, Think i will try getting a new mic to record vocal audio. Will look into getting some sort of memo recorder with a mic input and see how that goes. Thanks again for the support, you guys rock!

Just got a new external mic to try out inside my helmet. Will make a video / review (haha, a review i have no idea what am doing) in the near future. wish me luck? If it all goes to shit i will change my channel name to "BLAH BLAH SOME ASS ON A BIKE WITH LOUD WIND NOISE" or BBSAOABWLWN.

Hmmm, will think of something..

To MOTOVLOGING!
