The New Goldwing Design

I guess this is in the right spot since it is about a bike...

Who watched the official unveil and what did/do you think of the redesign?

My initial thoughts:

Concerns - Is there a CB, headsets, headlight spread, passenger may have to be skinny to have room, starter/charger in one so what about wear, tipover protection appears to be bolted to heads so what about stress on the bolts, less gas better fuel economy but what about sport mode, and Trike conversions.

There are no wrong opinions at this point in the game...

I think more people are going to start leaning towards the Yamaha Venture. The Goldwing has always been over the top but I think they've gone too far with their features this time. Plus they just look dorky without the travel pack on the back :p. But could you imagine having to lift that beast up if your dropped it?

But who am I? I suppose there's a reason I don't work for Honda. I've always believed that less is more when it comes to bikes

It no longer looks like anything special and just looks like another cruiser / touring bike.

The appeal of goldwings of old was there was nothing like them out there. Now you have a few to choose from and they make the bike look even more generic.

Aye, the Goldwing was always OTT, it should always be more than you can get from anything else. As a bad analogy it is the Merc/BMW of touring bikes, it is not the bike every person wants or owns!

No matter what manufactures do to re-relase a bike they can't always get it right. However I think Honda done it. They have clearly borrowed a few peices from the Rebel but I do like it. Would I buy? No because
A) its to big for my license
B) no good for small commuite

But like I said I like and and can appreciate it

I love that it is out. Now I can find the zero mile last gen, still sitting on the showroom floor. Everyday becoming harder to sell. Then pounce and get my goldwing for less. =)

I have been thinking along those lines...

Thats the same for any new bike. But the manager special price will come out just so they can get them out the way for the new models. You should be able to find a bargin

It is bigger than that. They are no longer making the old model. They will be much more desperate to get rid of the old model. I waited for the next gen corvette to come out so I could make an offer. I wanted to trade my challenger for one. When the new vette hit the same dealer was willing to give me 8,000 more for my challenger the the year before when it had less miles on it. When any model is considered out dated dealers will bend over backwards to get it off the showroom floor.
