The Future Of Motorcycle Navigation?

If they weren't so expensive I would actually consider buying one just for this purpose.

On the whole, I try not to use my iPhone to navigate, because I like to get to know my way around. But if I'm making a journey to a new place, and I need to get there on time, I can't risk getting lost or taking detours that will make me late. So when that happens, I set Google Maps to take me where I need to go, connect my headphones to my phone which then goes in my inside jacket pocket, and then put one earbud in my right ear. It works pretty well, I get accurate turn-by-turn directions. But with this you would actually be able to see the map by just glancing at your wrist.

What are people's thoughts?

Your on a bike, whats the rush to get to your destination... I just pick a direction and go with it

I've found the best roads when lost, but my satnav gets me back home eventually when I accidentally leave the country!

Far too small a screen to be safe, I think.
You'd need to concentrate too hard on it.

Hell, using in-ear turn-by-turn is bad enough at times, trying to understand what was said.

My ex-Housemate used to get annoyed at me for preferring to try and memorise the route before leaving.

Really?

I find Google Navigation to be a steaming turd with its audio directions. It always tells you too late, it may as well say "You know that roundabout you just exited? Well you should have taken the exit before".

Yeah, maybe it varies depending on location but it is spot-on around London.

On an iPhone anyway.

Don't use it to go to Alton Towers.

It got right on my nipples on that ride.

When I need to go from A-to-B as quickly as possible I use my phone as a SatNav and mount it on the handlebars of my motorcycle, I put on Waze (Fantastic app in my opinion) and follow those directions! Altho I have the option of turn-by-turn voice directions off!

When I don't need to go anything in particular.. I get on the bike and drive.. Always try to find roads I haven't ridden before!

Google Maps works great here in Brisbane Australia - take it out to the country and you find secret roads that Google didn't know about.

I use google maps on my phone and have the sound play through my Sena speakers. My phone is also mounted on the handlebars of my bike, so I can look at the map.


Although usually I just try look at the directions beforehand and try to remember them before I set off.
