The Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride 2018

So i did .. find a post about the 2017 one. But i figured new year.. new stuff!

I'll be attending this year's Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride, from Turkey / Izmir - I'll also be VLOGGING it with my suit, dog and cruiser! :) Any one else entering? Maybe we could do like a shout-out thing to each other?

If the weather cooperates, I will be riding down to Huntsville, Alabama for that one . At the time, the Nashville Tn group had not posted if they were having one or not.

Have they loosened their rules over the kind of bikes that can ride?

I am not sure. The website has the location and each location should have a link so you can contact the organizer with questions.

Still the same rules -- only classical style scoters are allowed to ride. Wish they'd change that.

- Wolf
That is interesting indeed. Did you hear that from the point of contact for the ride near you because a search shows a few photos of more modern lined bikes participating.

Even if they did not allow you to actually ride, you could still film and participate in the beginning and end points. That would be still a worthwhile motovlog.

Just crash in their ride.. They don't own the streets. If I had a suit and I was free I would just crash it with my sports bike.. Regardless if they allow me or not. Why the need to differentiate based on bike type, totally the opposite from promoting brotherhood among bikers. That would be my main purpose to crash it, not to ride fast or annoy the group, just to show them that anyone should be allowed if they are dressed for the occasion.

It's for charity.. think of it like.. a party with a 70s theme and you rock up wearing shorts that sag down to your knees like all the young 2000s rappers. It'd be.. silly.

I get their need to stick to their theme, but they may also be keeping more out than in. I’m sure a compromise could be reached, like a specific dress code, but if choppers are allowed in then why not a sports or maxi-scooter design?

If modern bikes have been allowed in then I can check the regional contact person and see if I can participate.

I want to participate but that style guide kinda throws me. My 2017 Sportster doesnt fall into any category, I wouldnt consider it a chopper by any means.
Whats weird is the inclusion of street trackers, I get that they've become more popular and theres some history there but it doesnt quite fit, same goes for the scrambler.

I'm going to contact the organizer for the Washington DC ride, I'm pretty sure they'll allow other types of bikes as long as the dress code is met. I remember last year seeing someone on an exact copy of my bike participating, hoping to find that person this year.
