That's It I'm Done...

With lost footage from dead batteries. This has happened more times than I care to admit.

Picked up a battery eliminator (how about battery supplement?) from EN187 (our fellow member)

Modded the case a bit so I could use the regular back door as well as the internal battery. His other kit uses the spot for the OEM battery which can use the normal skeleton door however I often use the camera off the bike so having the internal battery is still useful.

The Anker in the picture is only 3k mah (still nearly triple the stock battery) however I do have a slim 15kmah on order!

Here's how I set it up with the Anker. Wrapped it with double sided tape and it adhered between the visor and the helmet, nice and tight. Rode all day, didn't wiggle at all, besides if anything the wind is just going to push it in tighter.

Had some memory card issues so I couldn't test full battery usage (always burns more when recording). But it didn't drop a bar though (didn't use wifi)

Neat. Do you feel the helmet tends to droop down over your brow due to all the stuff on your peak?

Nope. The visor does pickup some extra wind force on higher speed runs though (any helmet with a visor will do this on the street). Not enough to make me switch helmets...

Never thought about using a cam under the peak... Nice one

Also, just dont forget to charge the powerbank, also, they take longer to charge

Bro where you been? Been runing the under visor since day 1!

Left the camera on and recording for at least a few hours straight yesterday and the battery bar didn't drop once. Finally hours after I got home the Anker was dead and it was running on the internal battery with no interruptions...

I got the "slim" battery pack, its slim but I forgot to measure the other dimensions

This thing is a beast, I'll likely just use it to charge other stuff...

That bank is huge! Haha. I'd seen some people mount their setup under the peak. My brother even mounted his session there. BUT I've been trying to figure out where to mount a battery backup. I couldn't connect the dots haha. Thanks to you I'm mounting a bank there and keeping my camera on the chin bar. Thanks man!

That's a crazy cool set up. For my Hero4 silver, I might just go with getting extra batteries and a charger. Though I'd have to make sure to swap them out, before the battery dies.

when i got my cameras they both came with the gopro extended battery packs with the larger cases to host them there good for 6 hours recording im yet to run out of battery in that time

LOOOL.
I guess you could stick that to your chest with some velcro and run a cable up to the gopro haha

neat idea with the banks though, i've been thinking of the same thing but have run into a few problems.

I'm planning to be using the sena gp10 packpac. That takes up the back port, as well as the side micro usb...
you can't charge with the HDMI port so that's out of the question.

Seems like I am left with shooting on different batteries, which I think has it's pluses.
I get a time limit to ramble on... I have to be concise, I have to plan well and make sure that I say things within my time limit.

It's all good recording for 6 hours but, hell to the no, when it comes to import, export, edit render and rewatch the whole thing.
That really sounds like a nightmare.

I guess I'll stick with ordinary battery and spares. Maybe a bank in my luggage/rucksack with a charger to load batteries and cycle them as they charge and run out.

Your idea with the bank is awesome for long touring days etc.

I bet that helmet get's really tiresome though, especially on your neck at the back.
How long can you keep that thing on until you start feeling the weight?
The chins mounted gopro i have is already a nuisance for me and spinning my head side to side causes wind buffer...

I'll probably bring the bank with me in my backpack for other stuff, its slim enough to bring on long trips.

I like keeping the camera, battery and helmet together as one. The helmet fully loaded weighs 4.35 lbs which is only about 1Lb more than my FLY F2 Carbon moto helmet so I wouldn't say it has any really extra wear and tear on the rider. Of course a visor is going to add more wind resistance but I've been using this style for a while and am used to it.

Of course riding all day is a ton of footage but its pretty easy to go through, I'd rather have it than not!

Also I would have used the extended batteries instead but they add too much bulk to the camera!
