Subtitles... What Folks Think!

MotoMisc

Move along, nothing to see here!
Sorry if this has come up, might searched for wrong when i looked for the topic.

I'm thinking of going back to my native language(swedish) and have subtitles(manually made on some videos) but mainly youtubes own.

I found myself watching alot of belgian, frence videos a few days ago and did not even notice it was in their language and i was just reading subtitles cause they were entertaining :P

Do you guys watch other languaged videos then english or any language that you know personally?
Anyone tried the subtitle function?

I considered it. But in the end I realized my English audience is bigger. I might try a Norwegian vlog when I get back at it, but I suspect Googles algorithms won't be able to comprehend my dialect. Could be entertaining though. We'll see.

As for manual subtitles. no way, is a pain to do for every ep.

Roberto Blake just did a video about this maybe a week ago.

Take a look and see if you think its worth it.

Your also making the assumption that your viewers can read as well. :p

I speak English and I still think I need subtitles because foreigners find it hard to understand the Singlish accent.

:p

Just make sure that you put a graphic on the screen when it starts letting people know their are subtitles if they so wish to use them. ;)

Hmm, most viewers are swedish sadly so i might test swedish with subtitles =) and also noticed 80% of my viewers are not subbed, gonna try make my videos more entertaining :p been a sucky winter here =(

27% of my viewers are Norwegian, and the english-speaking countries make up 40% of my views. The rest are non-english people who understand english.

When opting for doing your mother lingo, consider your content. My own goal is to show off the country to outsiders. If I did it in Norwegian I would be preaching to the choir.
