Stockpile Vlogs Or No?

Lots of brilliant ideas here. Right now I'm sporadic. I usually record on the way to and from work and it's 30-40 minutes long. Lots of trips end up being kind of boring so I scrap 'em. Right now I'm working on whittling down my videos to just the good content. Only a few people like bakerXderek can make a 20 minute motovlog and keep it entertaining enough that people will watch it all the way through.

I really like the idea of uploading them to the Tube and just making them private until release time. That might help me establish a better schedule. Usually, if I like the content, I get ants in my pants and want to hurry up and publish it for everyone to see. Most of the time its not as cool as I thought it was lol.

Sunday evenings and Tuesdays seem to be busy days on YouTube for some reason. I'm trying to figure out a day of the week when it's best to publish, too.

Been mentioned before, but it can be worthwhile scheduling a video to upload now but release in at least a few hours. This way it lets YT encode all resolutions so people who watch it immediately can see it in HD rather than 480p. I do it with all mine.

Are you referring to pressing the Publish button before the video has finished uploading and processing, or are you talking about waiting for the video to finish uploading and processing and then an hour or two after that hitting publish?

What I do is I wait until YouTube has finished uploading and processing my video. Then I hit Publish. I believe my videos are available in 1080 right away.

That's a great question I was wondering about that myself. I seem to always have about 2 or 3 days of vids that i have not gone through. I just record every time i'm on the bike and scrap the stuff that i know has no good content

If you wait until it's done and processed before sending it live, it may not always be available in 1080, scheduling will ensure it's in 1080.

I stockpile footage all the time. Right now I am sitting on two vlogs and two car show videos. One of the carshow vids I need to edit, the other I can't until ~October because it is part of a show that needs to air on TV first (I was just present at that car show where I filmed a bunch of stuff, no involvement with production whatsoever).

I just upload as I record. But I could definitely see the strategy in keeping some in a stockpile. I do have some footage without me talking over it just in case I want to edit the video to some music or something.
